About the Role
We’re looking for a talented Graphic Designer to join our growing, creative team. The ideal candidate is someone who has a passion for product packaging, typography, logo design and branding. One day you might be crafting typography on a paint product label, creating digital assets for our annual painting competition, or creating new pages on our website builder. The next day, you might be checking print samples, artworking our next print publication and sending it to print.
You will be working very closely with the Head of Visual Content, Head of Brand and Director to establish and evolve the aesthetic across all touchpoints, and maintain Jackson’s Brand Guidelines. You will also be working closely with the Commercial Director, Purchasing Manager and external suppliers to expand product ranges for Jackson’s as well as other sub brands within the company.

About You
The role requires a hard-working, self-driven individual, who has a great understanding of graphic design and branding. You will have a passion for packaging and all things print, as well as a keen interest in digital design and content curation. You will have a high attention to detail, and good creative ideas.
We’re looking for someone with proven experience as a Graphic Designer with a quality portfolio showcasing your work.
You will be technically led and competent with current software.
You will be comfortable taking responsibility and working with a high level of autonomy.
You will be open to being guided by the team's vision, as well as having a genuine desire to input creative ideas as and when.

Key Responsibilities
Jackson’s Design, Artwork and Brand Application
- Design and artwork for own brand product packaging, ie labels, brushes, sketchbooks, cases.
- Design and artwork for delivery packaging, ie labels, tape, invoice, stickers.
- Leads and design catalogues.
- Liaise with suppliers, printers and magazines, renew quote pricing up to date.
- Design and artwork for collateral such as vouchers, leaflets, stationery, display, POS, signs, colour charts.
- Design for internal coms.
- Design of infographics, charts and icons.
- Consult and request images to the photography team.
- Maintain graphic consistency across all deliverables.
- Enhance brand identity through packaging updates.
- Oversee artworker.
- Contact suppliers and prepare guides and artwork for them.
Sub Brands Design, Artwork and Brand Application
- Design and artwork for secondary brand product packaging, ie labels, brushes.
- Contact suppliers and prepare guides and artwork for them.
- Liaise with Product Manager and establish a schedule.
- Brand strategy.
- Brand guidelines.
- Brand rollout.
- Maintain and evolve sub brand Brand Guidelines.
- Strategy over deployment for Amazon.
Jackson’s Painting Prize
- Create and strategise the brand identity, annually.
- Design print promotion materials: posters, postcards, banners, exhibition materials.
- Design digital promotion materials: weekly social media content and weekly newsletters.
- Design digital assets for Jackson’s Painting Prize website.
- Liaise with the Partnerships Coordinator weekly.
Brand Guidelines
- Maintain and evolve the Jackson’s Brand Guidelines.
- Maintain and evolve the Sub Brand Brand Guidelines.
- Maintain and evolve the Jackson’s Painting Prize Brand Guidelines.
Digital Design and Website Creation
- Page Creation pages using our website builder platform on jacksonsart.com, jacksonsart.com/blog, jacksonspaintingprize.com, gallery.jacksonsart.com.
- Preparing optimised digital assets.
- Website branding, maintain brand guidelines and evolve brand identity.
- Backend maintenance on website, updating copy.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Adhoc design tasks ie. newsletters, social media, retail collateral.
- Manage freelance artworkers when needed.
- Jackson’s website maintenance including critique of curation, functionality and text.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety policies, procedures and regulations.
- Adhere to an operational policy of 'a place for everything and everything in its place'.

Requirements
Essential
- A minimum of 3 years design experience.
- Technical proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically with InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Good working knowledge of Excel/Google Suite, and Mac operating systems.
- A basic understanding of how e-commerce websites work.
- Experience of working with creatives.
- Passionate about marketing, branding and design.
- Enthusiasm for art materials and painting.
- A basic understanding of art materials, and knowledge of art terminology.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Passion for the latest design trends, keep the team updated with industry standards.
- Creative thinker with excellent organisational and time management skills, with an ability to competently problem solve and multi-task in a fast paced environment working to tight deadlines.

- A developed art practice and understanding of a range of techniques.
- Technical proficiency and previous experience of Adobe After Effects.

- A minimum of five GCSE’s (A*-C grades, to include Maths and English) or equivalent.
