Graphic Designer / Artwork Assistant

The role is based at Durham Box’s Offices in St Helen Auckland, DL14 9AD.
A vacancy has arisen for a junior to mid-level artworker to join the team, with a view to developing within the artwork function. Candidates, ideally with a minimum of one year’s experience this field or a similar industry are encouraged to apply.
Reporting to: Graphics Team Leader.
Working hours: 37.5 hrs per week.
Main purpose of the role:
To work as part of a small but dynamic design and artwork team.
To learn all aspects of skills aligned to the role within the artwork department.
To work with and support the team throughout the whole design process (original drawings / artwork, editing existing prints).
Liaising between departments artwork, structural and digital print press team.
To work closely with the internal and external sales teams to ensure timely completion of internal artwork processes.
Principle responsibilities:
Develop and produce original creative designs in line with the brief from internal and external customers.
Checking works schedule ensuring artwork is print ready.
Develop an understanding of packaging & printed sample processes / capabilities.
Develop an understanding of packaging design along with Adobe Illustrator.
Ordering of print plates / amending old plates.
Personal qualities:
Have a creative nature with an eye for detail & quality.
Be able to work alone and as part of the wider artwork team.
Have experience on Adobe / Illustrator software a distinct advantage.
Have a good command of English and Maths – GCSE minimum.
Be comfortable with working to deadlines.
Is trustworthy and demonstrates teamwork ethics and behaviours.
Demonstrates a can-do attitude.
Have good problem-solving skills.
Be self-motivated.
Be organised.
Flexographic experience advantageous but not necessary.

Salary – Starting at £18-21k per annum with a review upon successful probation period.
