We are looking for a hard-working and enthusiastic person to work within the Street Cleansing Service.
The successful applicant must hold a full, clean, car driving licence as they will be expected to drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonne. The role includes working in all wards within the Derby City boundary, including the City Centre. This position deals with many tasks such as chewing gum removal, the removal of graffiti, spillages, blood, vomit, and dog fouling.
This job is a front-line service, where you will need to have good customer service skills. You will deal directly with customers and handle public complaints. This position is also reliant on using a tablet device to receive and complete work.
If successful you will receive full induction training and other relevant training courses on the safe use of chemicals, as these are used on a daily basis. Other training courses will include manual handling and the removal of drug related litter.
The successful applicant must be able to work in all weather conditions and have a good knowledge of Derby.
This team operates Monday – Thursday 6am – 2pm and Friday’s 6am – 1.30pm. The position will include working some weekends, bank holidays and during the Christmas period, which will be paid at an enhanced rate.
If selected for interview applicants will be required to complete a written test. Successful applicants will have to undertake a driving assessment to assess their suitability for the position.
All employees will normally be appointed to the minimum of the grade for the job. For reasons connected with a particular need of the Council it may be appropriate, subject to approval, to appoint to a higher point in the pay grade.
