Graduating Paramedic (NQP), Agenda for Change Band 5

East Midlands Ambulance NHS Trust (EMAS) are pleased to be advertising for Newly Qualified Paramedics across all our Divisions in the Trust. This advert is open to graduates from any University who have completed a HCPC approved Paramedic programme.
Please ensure you state clearly in your application which area of the East Midlands you wish to work in (Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire). Regardless of the area, if successful in the selection process, you will receive a conditional offer of employment.
EMAS has an established NQP programme and a dynamic and diverse group of NQPs within the Trust. EMAS follow the national guidance in relation to NQP development and as a NQP you will follow a 24-month pathway on commencing employment. During the NQP period you will benefit from designated preceptorship, clinical reviews and developmental opportunities. You will be required to complete a portfolio of development against the national ‘consolidation of learning outcomes’.
The post holder will be located within their chosen designated division of the East Midlands and will report to the relevant Divisional Senior Manager for that area.
About You
You will have completed (or are due to complete in 2023) a HCPC approved Paramedic programme leading to eligibility for HCPC registration as a Paramedic. You will have achieved either a FdSc/DipHE/BSc Hons or Pre-Registration Masters from a University leading to HCPC Paramedic registration. You will be committed to the Paramedic profession and providing outstanding patient care to the people who access EMAS. You will hold/demonstrate personal and professional values that align to the EMAS values of Respect, Integrity, Contribution, Teamwork and Competence. You will commit to making a difference and showing both care and compassion in your work to patients, their significant others and fellow colleagues.
NQP Opportunities
As an NQP at EMAS you will have an opportunity to work with experienced Paramedics, Technicians and Ambulance Support Crew/Emergency Care Assistants. After 9 months you will complete Practice Educator development and after 12 months you will be able to support paramedic students. After 12 months, post qualifying you will also be supported to work as a Paramedic on a solo response basis.

The Trust has a wide range of support available to staff alongside the NQP programme including, but not limited to, the peer to peer and pastoral care network, TRiM practitioners and Chaplaincy. Please remember that your supporting information enables us to assess you against the NQP job description and person specification. Please use this space to outline your development, achievements and aspirations. Please ensure you clearly list all your qualifications, including your Paramedic qualification. NQP applicants are also encouraged to prepare for interview. Most Universities have designated employability teams who will offer interview preparation and support. The interview is an important opportunity to present your professional self as an NQP.
During the interview process you will be asked a range of questions that will be values based, competency based, and scenario based.

NQPs and Driving.
When applying to EMAS as a NQP you must have a C1 provisional licence. By the point of commencement of employment NQPs must hold the full C1 licence. EMAS will support NQPs with other emergency driving development following employment.
