Job description
We are now seeking a Graduate Tunnel Engineer to join our team based in Dartford. You will represent the team to coordinate and communicate strategy with other operational, design and scheme delivery teams.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with formulating effective strategies for tunnel and structures asset management consistent with the business strategy and contract obligations, including hand-back requirements, setting clear priorities and objectives as well as identifying potential risks and opportunities
- Develop collaborative working relationships with various stakeholders and on-road teams
- Support PMs to deliver integrated renewal programme
- Assist with Tunnels/Structures Condition Reporting
- Assist with the identification of timely renewal scheme interventions
- Liaison with the AMS IT team to improve and maintain data within asset management system
- Attend various internal team meetings as and when required
- Support the delivery of the Business Sustainability activities
- Understand current procedures and ensure all activities are undertaken to the highest standards of health and safety – Zero Harm
Profile
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Structures, Tunnels or related subject
- Enthusiasm and results focus, together with an ability to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Awareness of the tendering process
- An understanding of the various forms of contract used across the industry
- Proficiency in administration, writing, numeracy, IT and MS Office
- Proven ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- Effective negotiation skills with both internal and external customers
