Graduate Town Planner
Circa £28,000 per annum plus bonus and 25 days annual leave
Hybrid/ London Kent
This role is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to kickstart their planning career by gaining exposure in a variety of planning activities and projects. As a Graduate Town Planner you will work closely with the founder, a planning consultant with over 20 years experience and previously Director of a successful west-end planning consultancy, to develop core research and planning skills , and provide important input into the development and delivery of planning strategies.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Carrying out effective research- Drafting authoritative briefings and site appraisals
- Preparing topic focused papers
- Monitoring and advising on the progress of Local Plans and emerging policies
- Contribute to preparing reports for planning application and appeals
- Liaising with Councils and other agencies to keep up to date with progress
- Accompanying senior colleagues to site visits, and client and Council meetings
The development of our team is a crucial part of growing the businesses and we hope you will be able to quickly progress to a more autonomous role with greater responsibility. We will support you in developing your skills and experience through a combination of on-the-job learning and training towards your formal qualification.
You will be a recent or soon to finish graduate, ideally with a property or environmental related honors degree, or about to commence a RTPI accredited Masters degree in town planning. There is a requirement to travel to client sites in the UK, so having a valid driving license would also be preferred.

- Strong written/language skills to present complex issues simply
- Excellent communication skills, able to adapt to different audiences
- Robust organisational skills to manage competing deadlines
- Basic grasp of the UK planning system
Most importantly, you will have a passion for planning and property, and for research leading to creative solutions to support beneficial new development. This may include areas of specialist interest, understanding legislation or emerging planning policy. A desire to learn and improve is critical.
