Overall Purpose of The Job

The graduate technical analyst will collaborate closely with Business teams as part of the Global Digital team based in Glasgow, serving a global network of 60 offices, 3000 shore colleagues and 45000 seafaring colleagues.

This role provides the opportunity for an individual to gain experience in business domains such as Finance, Procurement, Budgeting, HR and Systems Maintenance, both for Shore and Marine operations. You will be excited and engaged with technology and it’s potential in the organisation, from the simple solution to the complex tool.

Providing support and direction to cross functional team members, writing technical specifications, evaluating technology options for IT and Business teams.
Experience shall be gained working with all levels in the business and provides the opportunity to travel within the group’s offices.

To be successful in the role you will be organised, enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

1. Support your assigned IT programs through analysis, data gathering, report writing and positive engagement.
2. Work at pace in workshops to record requirements, challenge thoughts and processes, help elaborate new ideas and solutions.
3. Build business and technical requirements documentation
4. Continually evaluate the technology being used in the company, look for new technology and process opportunities using your newly gained business experience.
5. Working with new technology vendors to evaluate usage of new tech for V. Group.
6. Work closely with the programme manager team supporting the day-to-day delivery of Enterprise applications, web and mobile solutions.
7. Work effectively with relevant project stakeholders to ensure successful implementations of technology and business solutions.
8. Use data analytics to make informed decisions

Required Experience

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB (Essential skills, qualifications and experience)

Professional / technical experience.
The Technology analyst will have a demonstrable skill set managing and controlling all aspects of the project lifecycle.
The Technology analyst is expected to consolidate blue sky thinking business needs to deliverable sections of work and build a delivery plan.
The Technology analyst is expected to form personal networks throughout the V.Group business landscape.

  • Ability to work under pressure and make decisions required to achieve the project objectives

  • The ability to communicate effectively and articulate your point clearly and succinctly

  • A passion for applying analytics, data and systems to solve business challenges

  • The capability to work away from home

  • Knowledge, experience or interest in some of the following:

  • Data programming languages such as SQL, Python, R

  • Data visualisation tools (i.e. Power BI, Tableau, Looker)

  • Analysing, drawing insight, and identifying trends from various types of data sets

  • Data Architecture

  • A strong desire to further your own personal development

  • The ability to overcome barriers through drive and determination

  • Strong team working skills, demonstrating effective communication

    Academic and professional qualifications
    Minimum qualification of a BSc/MSC in a STEM, Business or Accountancy subject gained in the last 4 year.

    Language Skills
