Job Title: Graduate Telecoms & Communication Engineering
Location: Barrow (Cumbria)
BAE do offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements, however it is expected, on our Graduate Programme, you will be required to attend your site 3-4 days per week. Please note, this may be subject to change in line with the needs of the business. The hybrid working arrangements including which days you are required to work on site/remotely will be outlined by your line manager
Salary: £34,000 + £2,000 welcome bonus
What you will be doing
As a graduate Communications Engineer, you will be part of a growing multi-disciplinary team, developing solutions to complex technical questions and in-service upgrades, for both existing and future Submarine platforms, within the Engineering function. You will be working across the breadth of the engineering design lifecycle, to support the current projects and future bidding activity of the department. You will assist, in providing professional engineering services to meet the future operational needs of naval platforms, the Submarine business and customer programmes.

Specific activities could include:
- You will play a pivotal part in developing integrated engineering solutions focussed on the Internal Communications Systems of our current and future classes of Submarine. From requirements and architecture development to equipment selection, integration, test and through life support you will be embedded amongst experts in this broad field.
- This broad discipline will present exciting challenges for those with a passion for industrial communications networks including but not limited to radio systems, IP based devices, fibre optics as well as those interested in audio/visual systems from broadcast speakers and VOIP to distributed media systems.
- Activities will include contributing to high integrity designs with your base knowledge of electrical principals, network architecture and protocols, radio theory and knowledge of A/C systems. From calculations to considered reports on component selection to designs for Human Machine Interfaces and analysis of impacts on Communications systems due to Engineering Change you will be part of a team focussed on a safe effective product.
Skills
As a minimum requirement you’ll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or communications / Computing Systems network or Physics
