You’ll be joining the Futures business unit which has a wide range of customers in a variety of domains including aerospace, energy, and public sector.
As a Graduate Software Engineer you’ll be implementing new techniques to solve the ever-increasing complexity of our customers challenges. Understanding the problem, designing the leading-edge solution, and implementing them as part of real-world systems is what makes Roke stand out from the crowd.
The Key Requirements...
- Relevant degree in STEM related subject, ideally with a strong focus on Computing Science
- Be competent in at least one high level programming language e.g., Pyton, Rust, C#, C++
- Have an understanding of the constraints posed by different deployment environments e.g., embedded vs cloud
- Strong understanding of software development best practices, including version control, unit testing and continuous integration A willingness to learn and work in a variety of software languages as your project demands
You’ll spend the first six weeks of your time in a specially designed boot camp that equips you with the fundamental skills required to succeed at Roke. After this, you’ll join a live project, continue to receive training, and start to contribute directly, building client relationships and supporting bidding activities to win new business. Your graduate scheme will last two years and provide plenty of variety, giving you the opportunity to develop a portfolio that can be used to showcase your developing skills during regular salary reviews.

Where you’ll work…
Alongside hybrid and flexible working options, you’ll find our Romsey site located within beautiful Hampshire countryside, close to the picturesque New Forest District and not far from a superb stretch of the south coast. This is no corporate, concrete jungle; this is a manor house site, with ample parking, an on-site gym and sports field.

Due to the nature of this position, we require you to be eligible to achieve BPSS and SC. As a result, you should be a British Citizen, have resided in the UK for the last 5 years and prepared to declare any travel that includes being out of the UK for more than 28 days in the last 5 years.
