Graduate Software Engineer

Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK
Salary Range: £28,000 - £30,000 per annum depending on relevant experience

About the Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to to support the development of embedded systems, flight control and ground station software. The role covers all aspects of Software Engineering including software design, software implementation and software testing. This is a hands-on role where you will see the outcomes of your work firsthand. This exciting role will place the right candidate at the forefront of unmanned air systems development in the UK. We seek someone looking to work with cutting edge technology on a variety of platforms for a wide range of customers.
Responsibilities
- Software architectural design.
- Generation of state diagrams, flow charts, transaction diagrams etc, based on software requirements.
- Software implementation and test.
- Coding in C and Rust.
- Creation of test cases and plans.
- Conducting testing and recoding of test results.
- Participation in design workshops and reviews
- Review of colleague’s code and responding to reviews of own code.
- Contributing to design workshops and reviews.
- Working within the company development processes
- Using Jira, Gitlab, RUST and C.
About You
Qualifications
BSc or MSc degree in a Computing related subject.
Skills and experience
Essential:
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Demonstrable knowledge of software engineering.
- Good understanding of one or more programming languages.
- Flexibility to learn new programming languages.
Desirable:
- Experience of C programming in an embedded environment.
- Knowledge of Git.
- Experience of programming for Linux.
- Experience of designing and documenting software
- Understanding of Real Time and Embedded software.
- Knowledge of Rust programming language or willingness to learn.
- General interest in aviation.
- Experience of MATLAB and Simulink
Personal attributes
- Must be a British citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK and have been a UK resident for 5 years.
- Ability to live near and work in Salisbury, Wiltshire UK.
- Ability to commit to occasional national travel.
- Good communicator.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work well in a team.
- Attention to detail and continuous test and evaluation at all stages of programming.
- Enthusiasm for their work and self-motivated.
