Post title: Graduate Research Interns (four positions available)

Salary: £1,751 (£10.42 per hour) for 8 weeks only- FTE £18,965

Hours: 21 hours per week (three full days per week)

Contract: Fixed term for eight weeks only, starting from 3 July 2023

Location: Onsite or remotely, as agreed with the research project lead researcher. However, it is anticipated that the post-holders will be required to attend the Norland annual conference, presentations and events held onsite at the Oldfield Park campus. Therefore, the post-holders will need to be able to travel to Bath.

We arelooking to appoint four part-time Graduate Research Interns to join our Research team from 3 July 2023. As part of the scheme, the Graduate Research Interns will have the opportunity to work on a specific research project, alongside the lead researcher and other researchers, over a period of eight weeks.

Each intern will be expected to be involved in a range of research activities, including but not limited to conducting literature reviews, collecting and analysing data and contributing to report writing under the guidance and supervision of the lead researcher. Specific research project roles and responsibilities will be discussed and negotiated with the lead researcher.

Successful candidates will:

· have achieved or be expected to achieve (if the results have not been published at the time of application) a minimum 2.1 degree classification OR have achieved or be expected to achieve an overall 2.1 grade in research related modules in early childhood studies or related subjects (e.g., psychology, philosophy, sociology, education, or research methods), or in history and/or library studies

· be committed to the values and professional code of Norland

· have a can-do attitude, demonstrate flexibility, resilience and team working ethos

These internships present an ideal development opportunity for individuals who have an interest and wishing to pursue a career or extend their research skills in one of the following areas:

· Archiving, digitising historical record,or library sector

· Emotion coaching - literature review

· Early childhood professional competencies - empirical research

· Pedagogy and/or early childhood relational pedagogy- scoping study

Aim of the internships:

The Graduate Research Internship scheme aims to enhance the research environment and culture of Norland College to achieve its key performance indicators (KPIs) for research and to offer graduates opportunities to apply and enhance their research knowledge and skills in a real-world research context.
