Do you want to play a key role in building strong, thriving towns, reducing inequalities in our communities, and tackling the climate emergency?
Are you a recent graduate looking to kickstart your career in project management?
If yes, then we want to hear from you.
We’re looking for two talented graduates to join our Regeneration and Strategy Directorate here at Calderdale Council.
You will be joining us at an exciting time as we transform Calderdale through an unprecedented level of investment.
Join us and be part of Calderdale’s next chapter.
Our priorities as a council are to reduce inequality, build strong thriving towns and places, and deliver climate action.
Calderdale is home to towns including Halifax, Brighouse, Elland, Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd and Todmorden. We are close to Manchester and Leeds, home to world famous heritage sites, a thriving visitor economy and a magnet for TV and film productions.
Join us as a Graduate Project Manager and contribute to the development and delivery of multi-million-pound capital projects delivering real change for local people from day one. We’re not even exaggerating, you really can!
We are delivering a capital portfolio of hundreds of millions of pounds as part of ‘Calderdale The Next Chapter’.
This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in regeneration projects and creating thriving, vibrant and connected towns and places.
You will play a key part in supporting the development and delivery of projects within the Major Projects Service at Calderdale Council that stimulate regeneration and economic growth across the borough and wider West Yorkshire region.
As part of your role, you will collaborate and network with a wide range of professionals internally and externally. You will gain hands-on experience across all aspects of project management within a safe, supportive, and respectful environment.
Our fixed term graduate jobs offer:
  • The option to gain a recognised project management qualification, subject to suitability and availability.
  • Allocated workplace mentors.
  • Exposure to a rewarding career where you spend time creating real change for the local community.
  • An overview of all the programmes and projects that we deliver under the themes of regeneration, strategic infrastructure, planning, economy housing and investment, and corporate assets and facilities management, for Calderdale.
  • Technical exposure over a breadth of types of projects: active travel, town centre regeneration, road, public transport infrastructure and buildings.
  • Working closely with contractors, local stakeholders, consultants, funders, and public sector organisations at the highest level.
  • Work in a political environment, creating value for the taxpayer.
  • Experience on projects worth millions of pounds.
In addition, we offer competitive rates of pay and benefits, a flexible and hybrid working pattern, generous annual leave and state-of-the-art town centre office accommodation.
We have opportunities in two teams with different areas of focus:
Graduate Project Manager (Highways and Infrastructure)
Projects include:
A629 phase 1b
Improving the flow of traffic and making it easier to walk, cycle or take public transport on the A629 south of Halifax.
A629 phase 2 Halifax town centre

A641 improvement scheme
Developing a vision-led approach to active travel in south east Calderdale to support the Council’s wider objectives for growth.
Graduate Project Manager (Capital Regeneration Delivery Programme)
Projects include:
