About this role
Begin your Network design career with BT Global. You may already have some work experience, graduated or due to graduate in 2023 and be keen to develop your skills in a network design role. Starting in September 2023.
Are you interested in being part of a team that shapes how customer networks are transformed to meet business challenges? What about being responsible for designing data network solutions for customers globally.
In this Network Technologies role you’ll work closely with our customers ensuring we transform and provide a world-class network design and delivery experience, all whilst considering agreed timelines, cost and quality.
You’ll get the chance to work with experienced network designers, to developing your understanding of LAN/WAN network design and the individual components right through from initial design to implementation.

You'll have the following responsibilities
As a member of the Network Solutions team, you are responsible for designing data network solutions. This involves working closely with both internal and external customers to define a scope of work, creating a solution to transform the network, and supporting delivery into the live environment.
As a Network Designer you will:
- Focus on getting the basics right: ensure the network architecture and configuration we produce works correctly, can be deployed smoothly and adheres to our code of standards.
- Put our customer first: work in a proactive manner to ensure you are the customers trusted advisor who is visible and accessible when the customer needs you.
- Be commercially aware: understand the key priority for your customer and have awareness of the key account milestones that underpin success.
- Understand the main principles of network design and demonstrate solid knowledge of your customer contract environment (BT project stakeholders & network architecture).
- Provide consultancy on network designs for platforms and/or solutions.
You'll have the following skills & experience
- A 2.2 degree or higher in a relevant STEM subject
- Knowledge and understanding of the work carried out in LAN/WAN network design and individual network components
- Understanding of IP Networking
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
