Graduate/Junior Engineer
Based in Guildford, T&R Test Equipment design and manufacture a range of test equipment for the power industry, selling into markets from power distribution to renewables.
We are seeking a junior engineer or recent graduate to join our engineering department. Our engineering department maintains existing products as well as designing new products. Initially this role will involve working with our engineers and production department to maintain our existing designs and products. This will help to ensure that all documentation is appropriate for manufacture of products.
The candidate must have proven experience in problem solving as they will also be expected to deal with any issues that may arise during production, testing, and repair.
This role is a very hands-on role where you will be exposed to all our products at every stage of the production lifecycle. You will report to the Engineering Manager and work closely with our test department and production department to ensure products make it out to customers to a high standard.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- To help maintain products that maintain the company’s reputation for reliability, long term use and build quality.
- To produce technical documentation that supports customer in the product use, and to provide on-going technical support.
- To help manage engineering changes.
- To reduce the impact of design changes on product realisation.
- To help comply with all applicable regulatory requirements.
- To maintain products for their expected life.
- To help ensure products meet all national/international standards of compliance such as safety and environmental.
- To ensure all documentation is checked against specification and standards prior to manufacture.
- To help design non-standard products to meet customer’s specifications.
Desired skills
- Analogue and digital electronics fault finding and debugging.
- 2D Drawing.
- Ability to read schematic diagrams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Be able to work individually & part of a small team.
- Ability to deal with and manage priorities.
- Must be able to work to company processes and procedures (engineering document control and engineering changes) and have ideas on how to improve company processes.
- Mechanical and 3D modelling design skills advantageous. The company uses a mixture of Sketchup, AutoCAD, Eagle, and Fusion 360.
- Experience of C programming.
- Any other programming languages highly advantageous.
- Microsoft suite of products including Word and Excel.
