Graduate Geophysicist (Hemel Hempstead) 2023
The geophysics southern team sits with the Geosciences division of RSK Group Ltd. RSK Geosciences is a UK-based, market-leading ground assessment, consultancy comprising expertise in contaminated land, risk assessment geotechnics, geophysics, topographic surveys and ground source heating and cooling, Throughout our 30 years of operations, we have enabled our clients to realise opportunities and manage the potential liabilities associated with acquiring, owning, operating and developing land. Our clients come from the public and private sectors, including many of the UK’s leading property developers, renewables companies, major and local house builders, utility providers, main contractors, local authorities and other government organisations. RSK Geosciences comprises ~300 staff, operating from 18 UK locations, conducting site investigations including geophysical and topographical surveys.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Geophysicist to join the team based out of Hemel Hempstead. They will be part of our Geophysics Graduate scheme for 2023. This is an accelerated training programme, which is accredited by the Geological Society of London, and designed to feed the best graduates into long-term careers at RSK as professional geophysicists. This is your opportunity to start out on the path to chartered status.
As well as on-the-job technical training on commercial projects, we will provide an accredited training pathway to develop technical competencies, plus coordinated learning opportunities in project management, health and safety, and business administration.
We want to hear from you if you:
- hold a 2:1 or 1st class honours degree in geology, geophysics or related geosciences or are predicted one in 2022
- are a clear communicator, outgoing and a team player
- enjoy the challenges of site work, and working outdoors

- be able to follow work instructions but also make own decisions when needed
- have an awareness of good health and safety practices.

Graduate Geophysicist – Hemel Hempstead
A graduate geophysicist is responsible for participating in site investigations and data processing and interpretation. As they progress, they will start seeing the projects through from commencement to completion. Good communication skills are needed, the candidate must work well within a team environment and be self-motivated.
The successful candidate will be:
- Participating in a variety of geophysics and utility surveying projects for both external clients and for other teams within RSK;
- Collecting, processing and interpreting geophysical data
- Participating in PAS128 (UK standard) Utility surveys
- Writing factual and interpretative reports and quotations
- Collecting and recording accurate site notes
- Travel to other offices and sites within the UK (as needed).
