Basic Salary : £ 21,600 to £ 23,000 per annumdependent on skills, knowledge and experience.

Permanent: A full time role, working Monday to Friday (40 Hour Week).

Location: Bellwin Drive, Flixborough, Scunthorpe, DN15 8SN (location requires own Transport)

Working Environment: Predominately based in a climate-controlled environment.

About the Role

We offer a fantastic opportunity for a recent or soon to be Graduate starting in their first role after university to join our Kettle Meal Solutions division at Scunthorpe as Graduate Technical Assistant.

This role would suit an enthusiastic individual who likes to manage their own time.

In your first 12 months, you will receive all the necessary training including the attainment of Level 2 HACCP and Level 3 Food Safety certifications aswell as Internal Audit Training.

Working at the heart of a fresh produce production facility, you will acquire practical hands on operational experience, gaining valuable on-the-job knowledge and understanding of the UK food industry and legislations including a working knowledge of BRCGS standards.

Duties and responsibilities of a Technical Assistant are:

  • Carrying out daily safety compliance checks during production and to finished products and review paperwork for accurate and correct completion.
  • Conducting personal and equipment hygiene checks to ensure compliance.
  • Assisting in the investigation of customer complaints and due diligence requests including traceability and general supply information.
  • Supporting the updating of site information boards.
  • Collect/ take necessary material, finished product or water/ ice samples for micro or chemistry analysis, or swabbing of personnel hands and equipment.
  • Undertake Raw Material end of life inspections and document the results.
  • Communicating with suppliers and buyers on a daily basis as required and issuing of non-conformances as appropriate.
  • Completion of system paperwork as requested and generation and updating of system paperwork.
  • Upon completion of Internal Audit training, complete internal audits against HACCP, the BRCGS Global Standard for Food Safety and Customer Codes of Practice and assist and participate in on-site customer visits and audits.

About You

You will be a team player and have a hands-on / “can do” attitude.

The successful candidate must be flexible with working patterns to support the business needs, able to work at very high standards, follow processes and procedures and be thorough with all paperwork and documentation.

You will be highly organised, able to multi-task and work to strict deadlines and under pressure and have an excellent eye for detail.

Strong IT skills and excellent communication skills are an essential part of this role.

Essential Skills and Qualifications You Must Have

· A minimum 2.2 degree in a food science or related subject or equivalent.

· High level of written and spoken English essential,

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,

· A good level of numeracy,

· Excellent attention to detail,

· Excellent personal organisational skills, and a flexible approach to workload,

· Good Time Management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines,

· Ability to work autonomously but also a team player,

· Strong IT skills for writing, accessing, analysing and reporting of data,

· Good problem-solving skills.
