We are currently looking for a Graduate who will be based in our Surrey, UK office focusing mainly on work within our Process Consulting team. The work will involve consultancy type tasks, carrying out yield and energy optimization projects and assisting in the development of tools to help in these projects. The candidate may be required to visit client sites or work in our other offices. Although the work involved will mainly focus on yield projects, there may also be the opportunity to work in any of KBC’s other businesses when the need and requirement arise.
Process Consulting
Whilst working as a Graduate Engineer at KBC, you will complete individual tasks supporting larger projects, receive training in KBC’s suite of upstream and downstream simulation tools and gain experience of different areas of oil and gas processing focusing on oil extraction and refining.
You will interact with a wide-range of experienced oil and gas consultants from different disciplines, often working with consultants based outside the UK.
Initially, your tasks will include simulation, operating data analysis and optimization of a client’s operation or proposed changes to operation. Tasks will typically be completed using Petro-SIM, our leading process simulation and optimization platform, and Excel providing you with a chance to apply the problem-solving, design and engineering skills learnt during your design project to a real-life situation. You will also be given research and development tasks to self-supervise in addition to supervised project work.
We work with the leaders in the global Energy and Chemical industry - multi-national, national and independent oil companies; integrated petrochemical and chemical producers and distributors; utility power generators and distributors.
Candidate Attributes
The candidate should ideally possess the following attributes:
- High technical ability with an expected degree qualification of a 1st or 2.1 in Chemical Engineering
- Highly motivated with a good work ethic
- Good communicator and team player
- Would like to pursue a career in consultancy
- Willingness to undertake international travel to visit clients.
- Be computer literate with established skills primarily in Excel and also other Microsoft products
- Ideally be familiar with process simulation using commercial software – although this is not essential
