Sustainable Energy First is actively seeking a Graduate Energy Engineer who will spearhead our efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of our UK business by an impressive 327,170 tonnes of CO2e by 2028, in alignment with our ambitious carbon reduction target. You will be working with our Energy & Carbon Consultants and Analysts, helping our clients de-carbonise their business and reduce their environmental impact. Support clients’ transition to net zero and be a fundamental support to the development, co-ordination and delivery of strategic energy and carbon reduction programmes.
The Role:
- Collection, analysis, and interpretation of large datasets; compiling inventories and monitoring reports covering GHG scope 1,2 and 3 emissions.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team covering GHG emissions assessments, carbon footprints, and reduction scenarios support clients net zero ambitions.
- Supporting the multidisciplinary team with the delivery of carbon compliance services including ESOS, SECR and other schemes relevant to business needs.
- Estimation of energy savings, costs, and cost benefit analysis.
- Proficient use of excel including creation of pivot tables, using vlook ups and other techniques to present useful analysis of large data sets.
- Analysis of significant energy consuming equipment such as boilers, chillers, CHP, and other large-scale equipment.
- Understanding and interrogating building management systems strategies and optimisation techniques including HVAC, BMS.
- Researching a range of renewable energy and decarbonisation technologies available on the marketplace and assessing them in relation to specific and generic Client needs.
- Presenting concepts, findings, and proposals to internal audiences.
- Liaising with suppliers to understand technology capabilities, limitations, costs, and subsidies.
Our Ideal Candidate:
This role would suit someone with a degree in chemical/mechanical/energy engineering with a genuine passion for learning about the energy industry and understanding large sets of data. A desire to work with senior engineers and stakeholders is required and someone familiar with energy, mass balances and knowledge of dashboarding and Power BI would be an added bonus.
