The Opportunity
Our national success in winning new Water Company frameworks means our team and ecology services are growing.
You will be working alongside an integrated team of environmental professionals. where you will be assisting in delivering effective and professional ecology services to a range of new and existing clients across the water industry.
Your day-to-day activities could include undertaking site visits and conducting field-based surveys such as habitat classification surveys, protected species surveys and terrestrial/ aquatic ecology surveys. You will also be producing high quality technical survey reports such as ecological appraisals, ecological impact assessments and protected species survey reports.
About you:
As an individual, you’ll be passionate about ecology, as you’ll be in the field from day one. A desire to work within the water sector is crucial as well as:
- A bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Zoology, Environmental sciences, Geography or any other relevant subject within this discipline.
- An eye for detail as you’ll be producing strong scientific reports
- Eligible to live and work in the UK at the time you start employment.
Desired but not essential:
- Experience using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) software
- Experience in ecological and protected species surveys, or other technical reports
- Knowledge of the practical application of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), including the Water Framework Directive
- A membership of CIEEM, IFM RSB. With a desire to work towards chartered status.

Land Aid
Stantec has partnered with property sector charity LandAid as one of its corporate partners to join its mission to end youth homelessness.
In 2019/20, an estimated 120,000 young people asked for help from their local council because they were homeless or at risk of homelessness.
It’s a problem that LandAid are here to help tackle.
As the Property Industry Charity, LandAid unite over 200 organisations from across the sector, working together to bring an end to youth homelessness.
As a Charitable Trust, they distribute funding to frontline charities supporting the young and homeless – and primarily fund capital projects, such as renovating homes and building bedspaces.
We have seen the incredible impact that can happen when the industry unites and so Stantec are proud to be working alongside LandAid this year.
