Due to continued growth and increased demand in the industry sector AES Solar now have a vacancy for a Graduate Design Engineer. As solar technologies have developed AES Solar have expanded from supplying Solar Thermal and Solar Photovoltaic systems into installing battery storage units, electrical vehicle chargers and other complimentary smart energy accessories to maintain continual business growth and success.

Due to the diversity of such products an integral part of these successful installations is based on a sound technical appreciation of the products/services we offer and their interaction into fully functioning systems

Objectives

Reporting to the Engineering Managers, your role will be to design, plan and deliver various renewable systems including Solar PV, Solar Thermal and Battery storage systems. Project managing your designs from concept to completion is a key factor of this role, ensuring quality and integrity is delivered to the end clients.

Responsibilities

Main roles & responsibilities will include:

· Ensure the smooth and seamless design, procurement & installation of all solar PV, battery storage, and Solar Thermal systems

· Ownership of design and project management of allocated installation projects i.e. CAD drawings; performance simulations/calculations; technical reports

· Provide technical consultancy on solar energy technologies to customers, installers, partners and staff including site surveys where necessary

· Engage and assist with the management of Installers and Sub-Contractors where necessary attending site

· Research and development of new and existing products as identified by Self and/or Directors

· Provide product installation support for customers, contractors and installers

· Act as initial company contact for all technical customer enquiries

· Provide technical guidance and day to day support for Commercial and Domestic Sales

· Identify changing dynamics in the solar energy market and seek opportunities for AES Solar to capitalize

· Provide technical support to the Management and technical authority in the absence of the Senior Design Engineer

· Contribute to company responses (coordinated by Senior Design Engineer) to Government and Industry Consultations that are relevant to AES Solar and result in company exposure

· Participate in learning and development (including training) to achieve relevant knowledge, skills and understanding

· Work on a day to day basis in line with the company’s core values

· Other duties reasonably requested by Management.

Requirements

Essential:

· Technical Knowledge in Engineering discipline or similar

· Accuracy in all tasks and strong attention to detail.

· Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

· Confident and determined approach

· High degree of self-motivation and ambition with an outlook of obtaining Chartered status

· Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team

· Ability and desire to work in an energetic, fast paced team

· Flexible approach to work with an ability to prioritise and manage your time effectively.

Desirable:

· A strong interest in renewable energy in particular Solar PV, battery storage

· Awareness/Knowledge of current Wiring Regulations & electrical practices

· Technical drawing ability

Please note, that the position is strictly office based at our Forres office in Moray, Scotland.
