DNV’s Markets & Risk team is uniquely positioned to provide independent advice on developments in low carbon markets, policy frameworks, economics and technology. Through a combination of multidisciplinary experts from both oil & gas and renewable energy backgrounds, at Markets & Risk, we support businesses throughout their Energy Transition journey.
Our Opportunity:
As a highly numerate engineering, mathematics / statistics or science graduate, you’ll join a growing team of big thinkers who love finding innovative solutions to our industry’s most challenging problems.
Utilising your analytical and problem-solving skills, you’ll be given real responsibility from day one. By collaborating with forward-thinking customers in the Energy industry and technical experts across our business, you’ll identify and implement industry defining solutions, as we seek to make the industry safer and more sustainable.
Based from our offices in Loughborough, you’ll be part of our Sustainability & Asset Resilience (S&AR) section within the Markets & Risk department. You’ll join a diverse team of specialists providing analytic and engineering consultancy services, to companies both within the UK and globally. Our clients include gas and water utilities, gas networks and government departments.

As a Graduate, other than your relevant degree, we don’t expect any prior work experience of the Energy industry when you join us; however, we do want you to share our passion for making a difference and utilising your skills to solve real world problems.

You’ll join a diverse team of specialists providing analytic and engineering consultancy services, to companies both within the UK and globally. Our clients include gas and water utilities, gas networks and government departments.
Depending on your background you could get involved in data driven projects which could include:
- Assisting gas networks in identifying the risk of the transition to hydrogen and other green gases

Assessing the performance of:
- Metering installations
- Distribution pipes (gas and water)
- Analysing, reporting and quality assuring Greenhouse Gas emissions data
- Hydraulic Modelling of gas and water networks
- Development of strategies and policies for clients based on data analysis such as end of life predictions
- Scenario development, modelling and interpretation of results against specified criteria / targets.

What will you bring?

- A minimum 2:2 Degree typically in Physics, Mathematics/Statistics, Data Analytics, Environmental and Sustainability, or Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Available to join our Programme by September 2023
- Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Pro-active willingness to learn new skills displaying a willingness to “get stuck in” and undertake work outside the ‘comfort zone’, demonstrating an appropriate balance between asking for help and using own initiative / thinking through the problem
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills, confident in building professional relationships and demonstrating first class written, verbal communication and presentation skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to plan and prioritise own time and activities, to meet deadlines and achieve project objectives
- Passion for developing your skills both professionally and personally including the commitment to complete the appropriate professional registration in your field (Chartership)
