Full Time Loughborough, England 32000 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Local Unit & Position Description:
Here at DNV, what we do matters. Whether it’s helping the Energy Industry transition to a more decarbonised and sustainable future or helping safeguard life, property and the environment, every day, what you do will make a difference. This is our shared purpose and one our people are proud to be part of.

DNV’s Markets & Risk team is uniquely positioned to provide independent advice on developments in low carbon markets, policy frameworks, economics and technology. Through a combination of multidisciplinary experts from both oil & gas and renewable energy backgrounds, at Markets & Risk, we support businesses throughout their Energy Transition journey.

Our Opportunity:

As a highly numerate engineering, mathematics / statistics or science graduate, you’ll join a growing team of big thinkers who love finding innovative solutions to our industry’s most challenging problems.

Utilising your analytical and problem-solving skills, you’ll be given real responsibility from day one. By collaborating with forward-thinking customers in the Energy industry and technical experts across our business, you’ll identify and implement industry defining solutions, as we seek to make the industry safer and more sustainable.

Based from our offices in Loughborough, you’ll be part of our Sustainability & Asset Resilience (S&AR) section within the Markets & Risk department. You’ll join a diverse team of specialists providing analytic and engineering consultancy services, to companies both within the UK and globally. Our clients include gas and water utilities, gas networks and government departments.

Depending on your background you could get involved in data driven projects which could include:
  • Assisting gas networks in identifying the risk of the transition to hydrogen and other green gases
  • Assessing the performance of:
    • Metering installations
    • Distribution pipes (gas and water)
  • Analysing, reporting and quality assuring Greenhouse Gas emissions data
  • Hydraulic Modelling of gas and water networks
  • Development of strategies and policies for clients based on data analysis such as end of life predictions
  • Scenario development, modelling and interpretation of results against specified criteria / targets.
The work will be challenging, but you will always be supported, and with over 80 colleagues in our UK Markets & Risk team alone, you’ll be surrounded by people committed to helping you learn, thrive and embrace new challenges. You will be given the time to build your network, the resources to support your development, and the freedom to satisfy your curiosity and desire to learn.

Upon joining, you’ll receive a buddy to help you settle in, a mentor to enhance your technical knowledge, as well as ongoing on-the-job coaching and support from your colleagues as you develop your technical, project management and customer interaction skills and work towards chartership.

Our structured Graduate Programme provides a fantastic start to your career with us, enhancing both your technical and professional skills and supporting your journey to become an expert in your chosen field.
Position Qualifications:
What will you bring?

As a Graduate, other than your relevant degree, we don’t expect any prior work experience of the Energy industry when you join us; however, we do want you to share our passion for making a difference and utilising your skills to solve real world problems.

Apart from that, we try to keep our list of essential requirements to a minimum, but there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:
  • A minimum 2:2 Degree typically in Physics, Mathematics/Statistics, Data Analytics, Environmental and Sustainability, or Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Available to join our Programme by September 2023
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Pro-active willingness to learn new skills displaying a willingness to “get stuck in” and undertake work outside the ‘comfort zone’, demonstrating an appropriate balance between asking for help and using own initiative / thinking through the problem
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills, confident in building professional relationships and demonstrating first class written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to plan and prioritise own time and activities, to meet deadlines and achieve project objectives
  • Passion for developing your skills both professionally and personally including the commitment to complete the appropriate professional registration in your field (Chartership)
If you possess the curiosity and initiative to become an expert in your chosen field and potentially one of our future leaders, then our graduate roles could be for you.

What you’ll receive in return:

We value all our people and the contributions they make to our business, so it’s important that our rewards make us all feel valued here. That’s why we offer a flexible reward and benefits package, allowing you to choose the things that matter most to you, including;
  • Minimum Starting salary of £32,000
  • Discretionary profit share scheme
  • Structured Graduate Programme and excellent development and career progression opportunities
  • Fantastic training to enhance your knowledge, build your confidence, and enable you to become more effective
  • Lifestyle benefits: 26 days annual leave + bank holidays, opportunity for up to 10 days unpaid leave, sabbatical leave, flexible working options
  • Wellbeing benefits: (inc Private Medical and Dental Insurance, Health Assessments, Gym allowance). Company contribution towards eye tests and glasses (for computer/laptop users), and Flu Vaccinations. Also, our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) provides free and confidential support for issues including work, family, relationships, money and health and we provide free fruit in our offices.
  • Financial Benefits: including a Pension Scheme with employer pension contributions up to 9%, Life Assurance and Income Protection
  • Travel benefits: Season Ticket Loan, Cycle to Work Scheme, Electric Vehicle Salary Sacrifice Scheme (for personal use)
  • Re-imbursement of relevant Professional Membership Fees (up to £500)

For this particular role, the deadline for applications is 26th March 2023 with our Assessment Centres being held in May 2023.
