Hastings Direct have an exciting opportunity for a curious, creative, and data-driven character to dive into our Underwriting data – to monitor & report on changes to key performance indicators, highlight any risks or opportunities that may arise through quantitative & qualitative techniques and identify subsequent actions that should be taken.
What you’ll do
With a supportive team around you, your job is to influence and innovate and communicate management information in in a timely fashion ensure the data is accurate and provide insightful commentary on key trends observed and actions required.
You will highlight changes in claims experience, our trading performance, mix of customers and other key performance indicators across the motor account. Conduct comparisons of equivalent external market data, monitor competitor activity, and take account of wider macro trends
Everything we do starts and ends with our data, so whether it’s by drawing insights from it, exploring new ways of how we use it, or finding value in more that we can add to it, you’ll be up close and personal with the work that makes a direct impact on the day-to-day success of the business.
Our team is based in Bexhill, East Sussex. Ideally you'll be located within reach of the office as the ability to learn directly from senior members of the team would be beneficial. We do however have flexibility about working from home as well.
What you’ll have
However far we delve into the data, we feel it’s important to keep sight of the bigger picture; we’re looking for people who are comfortable and confident with numerical and statistical information, that can explain what they are seeing with a range of detail.
You should be able to demonstrate and appetite to learn new skills have and inquisitive and curious nature alongside an enthusiastic positive approach. You should also be able to demonstrate good communication skills, both verbal & written.
We’d also love it if you knew your way around an analytical programming environment, whether that be, R, SQL, or any other language/toolkit that you use to find solutions. Although these skills can all be taught as well if required.
Whilst the technical skills to yield results are a vital element of your skillset, we get excited when we see you get excited. We want you to take the initiative, be accountable and honest for the approaches you take and most importantly be passionate about the work you do.
Qualifications
Educated to degree level in a numerical subject
Strong A Levels
