Job description
Mulberry Waste is currently looking for a graduate site chemist to provide support at our hazardous waste transfer station in Leyland. Reviewing in-coming waste loads, covering the acceptance and inspection in order to develop and maintain the highest possible standards. To organise Mulberry Wastes incoming waste routing, diversion and maximise efficiency in order to develop and maintain the highest possible standards. To provide a site technical assessment to assist the operations and management team in effectively controlling the site’s strategic plans for growth across the estate. To ensure compliance with every aspect of the IMS and EMS procedures are meet. Work is predominantly based outdoors on the site, however many activities are conducted under cover.
We treat a wide range of waste streams through our transfer stations, accepting most types of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes for onward recovery and disposal.
The role briefly involves the following duties: -
- Operation of Counterbalance Fork-Lift Trucks for moving waste around site and loading / unloading vehicles (training provided).
- Operation of the site transfer station following site procedures (training provided).
- Assessment and review of incoming waste material.
- Processing of waste under guidance from Senior Site Chemists and Site Managers.
- Completing regular inspections of the plant, equipment.
- Carrying out any other reasonable instruction required to ensure safe, efficient operations of the site.
- Some reasonable repetitive light, medium and heavy lifting
The ideal candidate will have the following skills/experience/ attributes: -
- A positive attitude towards safety, maintaining high levels of health and safety standards
- Degrees in Chemistry or associated discipline.
- Strong team player – good communicator at all levels
- Punctual
- Tolerant of diverse working situations & conditions
- Ability to meticulously follow method statements and learn new tasks quickly
- Flexible approach to work – some overtime / late finishes may be required as per the needs of the business
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week as standard (Monday to Friday) occasional overtime available when required.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £22,000.00-£24,000.00 per year
