We’re looking for a Graduate Analyst to join the team at Edinburgh Airport. This unique role within Edinburgh Airport consists of three placements over a period of 2.5 years, including:

  • 12 months in Business Analytics, where you will develop operational forecasts and models to drive the efficient running and growth plans of the airport.
  • 9 months in Aero, where you will support the route development function, constructing data driven business cases, monitoring airline and route performance and contributing to the development of Edinburgh Airport’s route network.
  • 9 months in Commercial, where you will contribute to the development and evolution of Edinburgh Airport’s Retail, Property and Car Parking estates, appraising potential new deals, evaluating business partner performance and supporting the team in maximising commercial revenues.

We will help you develop the skills required to become a great Analyst, ensuring you have the ability to see the both the big picture strategy whilst also being able to dive into the detail of the day-to-day tactics at the same time. You’ll work closely with our team of analysts and teams from across the airport campus to understand the breadth of business needs and then build robust solutions that span entire systems. Your aim is to equip decision makers with the most confident information as effectively and efficiently as possible, positioning the business to deliver excellent customer service driven, operational efficiency, and revenue maximisation. At the end of your placement, we will work with your to find a role at the airport that best fits you and your unique experience.

  • Essential: Recently graduated (in the past 18 months) from a degree program with a strong quantitative and analytical focus.
  • Essential: Highly numeric with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Desirable: Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Desirable: Experience with a programming language such as R, Python, and SQL, or desire to learn.
  • Desirable: Understanding or interest in learning a range of statistical techniques such as queueing theory, simulation, or optimisation.
  • Desirable: Experience or interest in learning dashboarding software such as Tableau or PowerBI.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of or interest in the aviation industry.

What you’ll be doing
  • Collaborate with analysts and teams across the business to study processes and identify opportunities for efficiency and to make smarter decisions.
  • Derive long and short-term forecasts, flight schedules, and predictive analytics, leveraging techniques such as machine learning, regression, and simulation.
  • Source, identify, test, tidy, and optimise datasets for straightforward use across platforms. Investigate data discrepancies to improve data quality. Transform large datasets into accessible insights that simplify business decision making.
  • Develop effective data visualizations, dashboards, and reporting (in Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools). Troubleshoot and resolve any reporting and dashboarding issues.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis, establish KPIs, and provide descriptive analytics of past trends.
  • Simply and concisely present results and recommendations to internal and external business stakeholders (both written and verbal).
  • Support commercial teams in analysing prospective new deals, ensuring these deliver the best possible returns for Edinburgh Airport.
  • Support the business with ad-hoc and bespoke analysis.
  • Share insight, skills, and experience with analysts and colleagues throughout the business.
