About the Role
Lister Medical Practice is looking for a GP to join their busy practice, covering up to 6 sessions a week.
- Responsibility for a patient list;
- Each session to be divided into 50% routine and 50% urgent (this can change depending on clinician availability);
- Home visit responsibility for your list of patients – salaried GP to cover own visits. Up to 1 visit for an absent partner;
- Pro-rata duty with partners in the duty rota;
- Responsibility for your list of patients and generated administration, blood, etc.;
- Buddy cover during leave;
- Expectation you will join our clinical meetings and support our teaching of medical students;
- Income generated from insurance reports is kept by salaried GP;
- Pro-rata audit sessions;
- Undertaking a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion;
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting medical problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation;
- Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems;
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness;
- Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols;
- Providing health education;
- Recording clear consultation notes to agreed standards;
- Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements;
- Delivering enhanced services;
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions;
- Awareness of the principles of preventing healthcare acquired infections by their practice of aseptic technique / clean as appropriate;
- Always working in a safe manner by following best practice and infection control policies;
- Responsibility for maintaining up-to-date knowledge of safe practice with regards to infection control;
- Following PHE guidance on infectious disease notification.
About the Candidate
- Fully qualified GP with GMC registration
- Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
- Be on the NHSE medical performers list
- CCT in General Practice on a GMC approved course
- MRCGP (desirable)
- Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management and primary prevention & screening services;
- Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your mandatory training is in date;
- Awareness of, and compliance with, all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety;
- Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice;
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills in a confidential manner;
- SystmOne trained.
About Us
We are a training and research practice, as well as a teaching practice for Cambridge students. We have consistent high achievement in all QOF and Enhanced Services areas with an innovative team structure with individual patient lists of around 2,500 per FTE GP.We operate the SystmOne computer system. We are active members of our local GP federation and ICS.
Lister Medical Centre has easy access to M11/M25, close to London and Stansted and attractive Essex and Hertfordshire countryside, excellent schools.
