Job description
This is a new role and would suit someone with experience in general practice who is looking for a new challenge.
The work will involve running audits on the clinical system and arranging appointments for patients needing health checks, immunisations or other reviews. It will also involve scanning, reviewing and filing of clinical documents using the Docman and EMIS systems, coding medical information using READ/Snomed codes, following up results and referrals.
The main duties of the role are:
* Scan, review and file incoming clinical documents via EMIS and/or docman according to practice protocols
* Identify relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions
* Run searches and audits on the clinical system and act on the information gained, arranging reviews, immunisation recalls, health checks, etc.
* Contact patients via text/phone/email to arrange follow up appointments, immunisations health checks and reviews for long-term conditions
* Process incoming test results, ensuring they are referred to the relevant clinician
* support staff running health campaigns such as influenza immunisations
* keep safeguarding and other records up to date
*Support clinical staff with administrative tasks including chasing results and referrals
* Process all DNA letters in accordance with current protocol

Battersea Fields Practice has approximately 12500 patients working over 2 sites in Battersea.
The practice has over 30 staff including GPs, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Administrators and Receptionists. Staff are well supported and work together as a practice team to offer the best health care possible to the local practice population.

Qualifications
Essential
- GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths
Desirable
- NVQ qualification in a related subject
- Medical terminology training
Experience
Essential
- Previous administrative experience in NHS primary or secondary care
Desirable
- Previous administrative experience in NHS general practice/primary care
- Experience reviewing and coding medical information
Knowledge and skills
Essential
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Good IT skills
Desirable
- Good working knowledge of EMIS and docman
- Good working knowledge of Word and Excel
