Location: Matfen Hall Country Hotel, Spa and Golf Estate
Position: Golf Shop Assistant
Rate of Pay: £12.00 per hour plus tips, minimum 25 hour contract
Reporting to: Golf Club Manager
Overview:
Matfen Hall is a privately owned five-star country house 65-bedroom hotel, spa, and golf course. Converted to a Hotel in 1999 by Sir Hugh and Lady Anna Blackett, the Hotel was purchased by Sir David and Lady Sylvia Harrison and Family in August 2020.
Since the takeover in 2020, a programme of refurbishment and repositioning of Matfen Hall has taken place, with further investment to follow. The direction of the business is to achieve 5 Red Star status within the next two years. As a Golf Shop Assistant you will be part of the repositioning of the Hotel from its previous status as a volume wedding venue and hotel to become a luxury property offering a high-level service with a broad product offering that endears guests to stay for several nights, working with Members and Visitors on a daily basis within the Golf Club you will be part of a larger team across the Hotel, Golf and Spa Estate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Welcoming Members and Visitors to the Golf Club, answering and redirecting phone calls, making bookings and selling golf shop items.
· Basic IT skills and a polite and welcoming telephone manner are essential.
· Knowledge of golf would be helpful although not necessary
· The ideal candidate will be sales focused, forward thinking, with great customer service, and a can do attitude and eye for detail.
· Shifts and hours can be flexible, including weekends and evenings
· To carry out the day-to-day administration of our golf shop reception: answering calls and dealing with emails and other correspondence.
· To be first point of contact for all golf societies and corporate clients who visit the club, as well as assisting with general golf enquiries from the clubs’ members and visitors.
· To be an approachable and knowledgeable member of staff within a customer-centred environment.
· To provide assistance and support for the clubs’ special golf and charity events throughout the year.
· To take all bookings efficiently, whilst ensuring these are effectively liaised with the clubs’ Catering & Events departments.
· To ensure the golf reception is kept clean and tidy, and presented in a professional manner to all members and visitors that visit the club.
· Will be required to be flexible and cover some shifts at our driving range reception including ball collection.

PREREQUISITES:
- Own Car/Driving licence Required

EXPERIENCE:
One Year plus service in a similar role within a luxury Hotel setting.
