The team:
In partnership with our lines of business, GMO develops innovative strategies and solutions designed to enhance our clients’ performance and supports clients in reaching their business goals.
We have a dedicated Client Operational Services group to provide simplified client interactions and deepen client relationships across Global Banking and Markets clients.
We deliver end-to-end trade lifecycle support for securities, loans, exchange and OTC derivative products beginning from pre-trade onboarding to trade booking reconciliation, settlement and beyond.
We provide cross-business functional support including asset servicing, client assets, cash management, collateral, reconciliations, and fees & billing.
Programme Overview
Our Global Markets Operations (GMO) Summer Analyst opportunity offers an invaluable opportunity to gain experience at a top tier financial institution. The programme will provide you with a thorough introduction to the Operations division and financial services industry. You will also gain an understanding of the products that we trade, and how we manage them operationally to ensure we are meeting our clients’ needs. You will also have ample opportunity to meet and interact with a range of employees, thus building your professional network.
Training and Development
Your training and development is our top priority with extensive formal training offered at the start of the programme in addition to on the job support, educational speaker events and mentorship throughout.
Responsibilities:
As a Summer Analyst, your key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Settlement, clearing and reconciliation of processes
- Trade validations, trade maintenance, break resolution and system reconciliation
- Data management, collection, and analysis
- Accurate set-up of client, account, and product reference data
- Process review and improvement
Eligibility
- Candidates are required to be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a graduation timeframe between September 2024 and June 2025
- On track for a minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent)
- Must be available to join the programme from June 2024 to August 2024

- Show demonstrable evidence of self-learning outside of studies, and efforts to advance technical skills
- Display clear motivation for exploring an Operations career within financial services
- Demonstrate capacity for innovative thinking and strong problem solving
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with a variety of people
- Display evidence of strong teamwork, leadership, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Fluency in written and spoken English is a pre-requisite
- Demonstrate integrity and ethics by earning other’s trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions
