The A Side: A Day in The Life
Virgin Music Label and Artist Services offer an individually tailored solutions on a global scale, including, but not limited to marketing, promotion, sales and distribution - assisting artists and labels to retain their independence whilst leveraging the strengths of a major label.
In this role you will be working in conjunction with the Artist and Label Marketing team; local Label Managers & Product Managers, and the global digital marketing and data team to build and develop global marketing, promotional and commercial plans for all relevant Virgin Music repertoires – direct signings and label deals – and all deal types.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be Organised
- Oversee the digital and physical release schedule process and ensure that all aspects of it are properly managed and scheduled in a timely manner
- General problem-solving for all aspects of releases
- Create and implement release strategies
- Manage complex global promotional planning including travel with artists
Be Analytical
- Responsible for stock forecasting, internal sales reporting, chart reports, ensuring chart eligibility of Virgin Music releases
- Monitor international programmes on key projects and provide regular detailed written reports on priority projects as determined by the Senior International Artist and Labels Manager
Be Collaborative
- Provide leadership, advice, and support to internal and external label partners in respect of their release schedule in the areas of sales, distribution, marketing strategy and promotional plans
- Attend planning and scheduling meetings
- Work with labels and Virgin Music partners to compile, approve and maintain budgets for actively worked repertoire
- Forge strong working relationships with Labels, Artists, Artist Management, Marketing colleagues and Territories in the Virgin Music structure
- Ensure timely delivery of assets from external partners, and internal delivery into supply chain, such that marketing timelines are met – pre orders, instant grats etc go live on time and in correct markets
Be Knowledgeable
- Understanding of different deal types and what that means for how individual projects are worked
- Provide exceptional knowledge of the music industry to support advice given
- Market and promote assigned artists and labels on a global level
- Devise and direct promotional strategy for artists to ensure maximised sales in line with marketing objectives
- To work on own initiative to ensure all opportunities are maximised – identify artists and tracks in the internal system that merit marketing and promotional focus and closely monitor trends and development using all available tools and market data
Person Specification
Necessary
- Experience in a similar distribution, label management or digital role; ideally within Music Industry or Music Agency with a track record of liaising effectively with both Managers, Labels and Artists
- Commitment to working, influencing, and persuading at all levels of an organisation (upwards and downwards) and building lasting relationships
- Basic understanding of key international media and DSP partners and a willingness to learn about, and be objective of, global opportunities
- The ability to learn quickly and adapt to the changing market
- Flexible and able to prioritise own workload and self-motivated; hard working and enthusiastic
- Prepared to travel internationally as required
- Ability to quickly learn internal systems and IT infrastructure and to use data objectively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team player with a flexible approach, willing to defer when appropriate
