The Role Responsibilities
- Standard Chartered is looking to build upon its continued success by adding a Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) specialist to its global D&I function in support of the Group’s objectives to become the best place to work, the best place to bank and contribute towards creating prosperous communities.
- The Specialist will play a pivotal role in consulting, designing, embedding, and evaluating solutions and programmes to deliver the Global D&I strategy and related areas of the Employee Value Proposition, in particular Employee Wellbeing, strategy for which is owned by the Group D&I Council.
- Driving best-in-industry solutions and practices will provide you with the opportunity to work closely with representatives from HR and different Centres of Excellence, executives, colleagues and our external partners.
- As a member of Standard Chartered global office of D&I, the role will report directly to the Regional Head of Diversity and Inclusion.
Overview Summary
- Support our workforce to develop the skills needed for the future; building resilience, agility and inclusive leadership to enable our teams to unlock innovation, make better decisions, deliver our business strategy.
- Partner and provide strategic guidance to D&I Councils, regions, businesses and functions to advance D&I plans:
o Serving as a trusted centre of excellence and advisor to build capability, upskill and deliver on D&I strategy.
o Project managing and aligning key D&I strategic solutions, global initiatives, and programmes
o Driving global and regional consistency by working with D&I Integration Experts to review processes and embed D&I and wellbeing best practices, policies, standards and governance.
o Supporting Employee Resource Groups to align their initiatives and activities to the global D&I and wellbeing strategies.
- In depth understanding of UK/US reporting requirements including specific reference to EEO reporting, the Parker Review
- Managing global D&I benchmarking, reporting and awards requirements
- Ongoing review and leveraging of key global partnerships and memberships to support D&I and wellbeing agenda and priorities.
- Providing D&I and wellbeing thought leadership on internal working groups, D&I Councils and forums, including monitoring internal and external diversity trends and legal developments impacting policy/practices.
Processes
- Project management, leading on the development and implementation of key projects within our key target areas – such as gender, ethnicity, disability, generations, LGBT+ and wellbeing.
- Build and manage strong relationships with the Global D&I Council, senior leaders across the Bank and key stakeholder groups to support on implementing the Bank’s D&I and wellbeing strategies including providing advice, encouraging engagement, producing key message documents, speaker notes, presentations, and providing regular progress updates (via a range channels).
- Partner with the Regional Head of Diversity and Inclusion and Centres of Excellence to embed and integrate D&I and wellbeing into processes and initiatives and align it with the other corporate, business and people strategies.
- Draft responses, presentations and updates for Regional Head, Diversity & Inclusion, Global Head of HR, Global D&I Council and other key stakeholders as appropriate.
- Work closely with Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing, providing subject matter expertise and project insights, to support on the successful development and execution of the Bank-wide D&I activity including campaigns for internationally recognised key dates e.g. International Women’s Day to maximise impact and coordinate development of any related activations and initiatives.
- Engage key stakeholders to build capability to deliver on the D&I strategy.
- Work with key stakeholders on the design and delivery of any tailored solutions (e.g. unconscious bias, cultural awareness, gender intelligence, leadership programmes for underrepresented groups, mentoring), products, toolkits, assessments, etc.
- Manage reporting process for the various business areas to track and report progress against D&I plans and alignment to D&I strategy.
- Support in the delivery of consistent and standardised Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) processes across the regions, including onboarding process, communications, development of toolkits, budgeting, implementing initiatives and monitoring of global reporting on key ERG metrics.
- Manage global D&I and wellbeing benchmarking, reporting and awards requirements and lead on the delivery of D&I external engagements to raise the profile of our commitments and progress, including conferences (e.g. Bloomberg Equality Summit, Davos, UN, International Monetary Fund).
- Collate, analyse, and use diversity metrics to measure D&I initiatives and engage the business.
- Support finance budget tracking, invoice processing and delivery of annual D&I and ERG budget process, including bi-annual review.
- Monitor and keep up to date with the latest developments in D&I and wellbeing research and thinking.
- Representing where appropriate the Group on external forums and working groups.
Candidate Profile
- Ability to build strong partnerships with key stakeholders through strong business insights and being personally credible.
- Influential and persuasive in terms of aligning the D&I, wellbeing and HR agenda with business-critical goals.
- Possess professional work experience, including demonstrated experience in the D&I and wellbeing field, and knowledge of equality legislation (ideally in different geographies)
- Specialist knowledge of UK Equality Act 2010 and experience of diversity issues, trends and inclusion best practices, including issues covering different strands of diversity and how it might vary across different geographies.
- Ability to analyse complex data, identify interventions and create solutions to strategic issues that impact overall D&I and wellbeing strategy success.
- Facilitation, delivery and ability to build capability in others.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to translate technical and specialist D&I insights to different audiences.
- Ability to act as a change agent.
- Strong project management skills, able to keep various programme elements on budget and on schedule.
- Working knowledge and understanding of diversity and inclusion challenges preferably in multiple cultural settings.
- Demonstrated and proven experience in D&I and other relevant areas of HR (e.g., Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Employee Engagement, Employee Relations)
Our Ideal Candidate
- University degree in Human Resources or related field is preferred e.g. D&I, Talent, Employee Relations, Org Behaviour, Psychology, Business Administration, etc.
- Relevant years of experience in D&I/HR/Talent Management, preferably combining both Business Partner and SME roles (e.g. talent management, talent acquisition, employee relations, employment law & policy)
- Relevant years of experience in Project Management and solution deployments
- Understanding of geographical and cultural differences and how it impacts the subject matter topics of the area
- Role requires credibility as an expert with senior stakeholders both internal and external to the Bank
- Understanding of D&I in specific markets desirable, especially Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
- Strong collaboration and consulting skills
- Proven experience delivering innovation in a complex organisation
