The Finance team at Fondation CHANEL is comprised of four full-time staff who collectively support all areas of the Fondation’s global and regional financial management and operations: accounts payable, accounting, budgeting and forecasting, financial controls, management reporting and analysis, risk, statutory reporting and audit, tax, treasury, and T&E processing.
The role:
In this newly created role, the Global Accounting Manager will manage global consolidation of financial activity across all of the Fondation’s programmatic regions and global functions. Under the leadership of the Head of Finance, they will establish financial and accounting controls and policies to ensure accurate and compliant bookkeeping and effectively safeguard the Fondation’s charitable assets. This role will liaise with Regional Finance Managers to ensure there is good understanding of and compliance with global financial procedures across the Fondation team.
The Global Accounting Manager will manage the annual financial planning process, conduct all month-end reconciliations, monitor cash flow, and provide accurate and timely global consolidated financial reporting and analysis. They will also support preparation of the Fondation’s statutory accounts and annual audit as well as quarterly VAT returns. They will collaborate with Regional Finance Managers and Operations team to further develop and maintain the Fondation’s financial systems.
Demonstrated expertise in the financial accounting and annual financial reporting requirements of UK registered charities is essential for this role. Depending on the capacities and interests of the individual, this role may also involve providing finance business partner support to the UK programmatic team.

Produce and maintain accurate accounts in accordance with FRS102 SORP

Prepare journal entries, supporting documentation, and schedules in support of year-end close and annual statutory audit

Review and track global spend vs. budget with budget holders ensuring that any variances are identified in a timely manner

Prepare quarterly global financial updates for the Board of Trustees, Global Head of Fondation CHANEL, and other audiences including detailed analysis of income and expenditure and long-term funding commitments

Oversee the coordination of incoming contributions from Chanel

Oversee cash management, monthly reconciliations, and cashflow forecasting

Ensure an appropriate financial policy and procedures framework is in place to guide the Fondation’s financial decision making

Lead on continuous improvement of global finance processes and facilitate consistency across regional finance processes

Ensure appropriate financial reporting mechanisms are in place across the foundation
-
Support maintenance of the Fondation’s risk register, with a focus on financial and compliance risks

Keep up to date with financial developments across the charity sector, including reporting requirements and legislation updates.
Overall Support of the Finance Function

Support wider Finance team projects/workstreams, working collaboratively with other teams (Operations, Communications, other Regional Programs) and seeking to identify further process improvements

Support and prepare ad hoc analyses and presentations for Fondation leadership as required
What you will bring to the team:
-
Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or similar) with demonstrable knowledge of UK GAAP and Charities SORP is essential.

Experience working in the charity sector—ideally with a global grant-making organisation—in a core accounting role

Experience in month-end close process and involvement in financial planning and budgeting processes – ability to inform financial forecasting, budgeting and long-term strategic planning

Experience developing and maintaining financial accounting policies and procedures in accordance with best practice within the charity sector

Demonstrated knowledge of external audit processes and standards

Existing experience using NetSuite (ERP) and PowerBI (visual dashboarding) or the ability to quickly adapt and master new systems quickly; financial system implementation, integration, and/or administration experience would be a plus

Advanced Excel and intermediate PowerPoint and Word skills

Ability to manage own workload with focus on delivery; as well as to work on own or as part of a multi-functional team

Self-motivated with good time-management skills, an ability to plan, manage and prioritise a varied workload and to take responsibility for issues through to resolution

Comfort working to tight deadlines and on multiple projects simultaneously, while managing several stakeholders at once

Excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills at multiple levels: ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships as a critical member of both the Finance team and the organisation as a whole

Position Logistics:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Working knowledge of other languages, welcome and useful but not required.
