THE ROLE


This role will be responsible for creating, managing and maintaining our GIS and geospatial information that will be used for capturing environmental and social data for our assets across multiple geographies. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with authoritative capability in GIS, data management and web mapping, with the ability to apply these skills and provide analytical insights for a range of applications.

The role will drive and deliver environmental and social geospatial baseline data collation across the investment lifecycle process and maintain the geospatial database with information from mergers and acquisitions, planning and development, construction, and monitoring and asset management reporting.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Working alongside NextEnergy Capital professionals, this will be an integral role in the Investment Management team:

  • Create, develop, manage and maintain a spatial database/data library for our solar and storage assets and to ensure it is systematically updated with data deliverables from consultants, contractors, publicly available datasets and survey information
  • Manage environmental and social geospatial information, including third-party data, across all assets and funds using ArcGIS Desktop/Pro or similar opensource software
  • Support Environmental and Social Due Diligence through geospatial analysis of potential constraints and opportunities of site locations
  • Undertake geospatial analysis for consenting, development and construction of solar and storage assets as required
  • Support in developing a robust and resilient data framework that is compatible with, and facilitates, verification standards for biodiversity and carbon credits
  • Provide high-quality, error-free cartographic and geospatial support and analysis for internal reporting requirements as well as external disclosure and ESG reporting
  • Provide geospatial analysis and report on ESG metrics that are aligned with evolving biodiversity and sustainability/climate strategy
  • Identify synergies and links with teams across the Group to develop strategic partnerships, including IT and Asset Management, for the integration of GIS infrastructure and support the development of geospatial solutions and applications

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES


You will be highly proactive with strong analytical skills and the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a wider team. Passionate about cartography, you will have a demonstrable track record in analysing, interpreting, quantifying and summarising multicriteria geospatial data.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelors or MSc degree in a GIS-related technical discipline and ideally a minimum of 5 years related work experience.
  • Strong cartography skills, advanced knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS. Familiarity with CAD based software. Ability to develop geoprocessing models and tools using ESRI Model Builder and/or QGIS Processing Modeller. Basic programming scripts and query language experience (e.g. Javascript, Python, SQL).
  • Experience in the use of MS Office 365 including Excel, Access, Word and PowerPoint. Data management experience in delivering solutions, analysis and products with high quality processes and documentation.
  • Power BI and dashboard design, remote sensing and image processing skills in context of environmental applications and assessment desirable.
  • The right to work in the UK.
