Due to company expansion, we are on the lookout for a GIS Technician to join our busy Records & GIS team. The successful GIS Technician will conduct GIS updates in a timely manner and to the required standard to support our internal teams and external clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Travel across Northern Ireland to conduct site visits and record information and photos to close jobs within limited time frame.
  • Support the rollout of FTTP networks across Northern Ireland by ingesting and maintaining GIS data in ESRI ArcGIS and other platforms.
  • Ensure quality and compliance of standards and systems.
  • Create schemas and maps that reflect network architecture.
  • Support and collaborate with commercial, planning and build teams.
  • Update and close the Openreach Portal using the supporting documentation.
  • Maintain the quality and integrity of the GIS data by undertaking quality checks and assurance of as-build data prior to ingestion.
  • Execute the data conversion and data digitalisation of all network data.
  • Provide plans and relevant documentation on request.

CRITERIA:

Essential

  • GCOMMS/AUTOCAD/GIS experience
  • Experience working on own initiative and prioritising tasks.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Computer Literate and familiarity with Microsoft packages such as Excel Spreadsheets & Microsoft Forms etc.
  • Organisational and time management skills.

Desirable

  • A qualification in or experience in any of the following areas: Geographic Information Systems; Geography, FTTP Network Survey and Planning
  • Working knowledge and experience in the use of GIS software; with specific experience of ESRI ArcGIS being advantageous.
  • Experience working within the construction / utilities / telecommunications industry.
  • Field maps experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £18,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
