Fantastic opportunity at a medium-sized Ground Investigation Company who are looking for a talented Graduate Geotechnical Engineer, based in Northampton.

Overview
Our client takes pride in providing cost effective ground investigations and geotechnical/ geoenvironmental services, supported by an in-house geotechnical testing laboratory, to a wide range of clients and projects across the UK - from new developments and slope stability assessments, to subsidence investigations and expert witness services.
You will undertake fieldwork duties at sites across the UK, so you must be willing to travel and, if necessary, work away from home. Initially the role will be predominantly field based to give you a good grounding in field works, varying types of geology, projects and sites. You will also be responsible for liaising with clients and landowners/developers when on site.
The client offers an accredited Graduate Training Scheme, which all graduates will be enrolled in, plus support through the pathway to Chartership. And the role itself provides a great opportunity for professional and personal development, with the prospect to progress to assisting with project delivery through preparation of desk studies, interpretation of ground investigations and factual and interpretative reporting.

Responsibilities
- Supervision of ground investigation crews, including cable percussion, rotary, and window sampling contractors.
- Trial pitting.
- Soil and rock logging to British Standards.
- Undertake Insitu testing, Soakaway/permeability testing, Verification sampling and testing.
- Gas/groundwater monitoring.
- Surveying exploratory holes.
- Hand auger sampling and inspection pit excavations.
- Preparing soil samples from boreholes and trial pit excavations and assisting Senior Engineers.
- Preparing site plans, logs and inputting field data.
- Aid with geophysical investigations (GPR, resistivity, magnetometer).

Requirements
- Degree in geology, a related earth science, or civils‐related subject.
- Full and clean UK driving licence (to drive a company vehicle).
- Experience of drilling rigs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, experience of CAD software or Holebase would also be advantageous.
- Must be organised, conscientious and motivated, with good leadership skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Awareness of construction site health and safety, and possession of Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), Asbestos Awareness, Manual Handling, First Aid and Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) certification, would be advantageous for this role, but not essential as training will be provided where necessary.
