General role activities include:
- Carry out geophysical interpretations and support for dynamic synthesis studies in association with other geosciences disciplines.
- Implement best technical practice (e.g. reservoir modelling, stratigraphic & structural modelling, petrophysical characterization, petroleum system analysis, prospect definition and risking) and provide technical recommendations to the GSR management team
- Contribute and play a technical role into 3G synthesis in close cooperation with Geologist and Reservoir Engineer
- Effectively present work conclusions both written and verbal to internal and HQ peer reviews and subsurface committees
- Initiate and support both in-house and external studies to resolve technical issues and develop an awareness of budget and study timing implications
- Conduct subsurface geophysical evaluation work (e.g. depth conversion, inversion, reservoir characterization, R&D tests, structural or stratigraphic interpretation, petro-elastic modeling, uncertainties, 4D) that is presented accurately, on time and of an appropriate quality
- Provide geophysical input for well preparation and execution, in close cooperation with team geologists, reservoir engineers, Operations Geologist and Drilling teams
- Perform efficient data management and follow best practices for reporting and archiving work
- As part of the NNS Asset, and its aim to make agile working a regular activity, every asset team member should expect to be nominated to work in small short duration task forces on various subjects (not necessarily associated with their core discipline) for up to 20% of the time.
Context and environment
In line with the Asset strategy, contribute to the maximisation of economic results, maximization of production, reserves and to the optimization of the development for a field or a group of fields, while limiting costs, in compliance with HSE rules. The Geophysicist has a significant role to play in contributing, as part of a team, to the development of Geosciences strategy and Company’s field operations.
Candidate profile
- BSc Hons degree in Geophysics (MSc preferred) with experience in the oil industry
- Good knowledge and understanding of all aspects of geophysical interpretation techniques and software suite, good knowledge in reservoir geology and principals of reservoir engineering
- Some operational experience including geophysical acquisition and processing desirable
- Ability to perform the tasks with some supervision
- Some production/reservoir geology experience desirable
- Ability to work within a team and having good communication skills
