About The Role
As part of Practice Plus Group having recently been awarded the healthcare contract at HMP Onley and Rye Hill, the opportunity has arisen for a General Practitioner to join the talented Healthcare team on site. This role will be an exciting chance to further develop your clinical and medical skills; we have begun delivering services in October 2022.
What will you be doing?
As one of the GP’s at HMP Rye Hill and HMP Onley, you’ll provide clinical oversight across a challenging, yet demanding patient group. You will be pivotal in engaging the clinical workforce to support the delivery of the organisation’s objectives and will gain insight and training in Mental Health and Substance Misuse.
As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the General Practitioner will provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management. You will also provide a highly specialist resource to other healthcare staff, patients and carers and have active involvement in clinical governance/effectiveness activities. It doesn’t end there; you will have a chance to become actively involved in audit, teaching and training (management of substance misuse and/or blood borne viruses) as well as helping us to adapt the service to the ever-changing needs of the patients.
About You
HM Prison Onley is a Category C men's training prison with an operational capacity of 710 prisoners. HMP Onley is based next to HMP Rye Hill and is located in the village of Barby, Northamptonshire. HMP Rye Hill is a Category B men's sex offenders’ prison with an operational capacity of 664 prisoners.
HMP Rye hill is based next to HMP Onley is located in the village of Barby, Northamptonshire. Both HMP sites are situated just over 5 miles south of Rugby and 5 miles north of Daventry with good transport links from Coventry and Northampton. Both HMP’s Onley and Rye Hill are located next to each other, and are only a short (2 minute) walk away, making the ability to work across both of the sites an effective opportunity for this role.
