Moorfields Eye Hospital are recruiting an experienced Porter to join their exceptional Portering department team.

Job Summary
The Porters of Moorfields Eye Hospital are in charge of ensuring the smooth daily operation of the Portering Services by continuously adhering to non-patient and/or patient transport policies and standards, as well as by constantly offering top-notch customer service. The chosen applicant will work for the Facilities Directorate division and report to the Domestic and Portering Service Manager.

Main duties will include but are not limited to:
- Replace the medical gas cylinders that the wards/departments demand and help with gas supply deliveries.
- Dealing with queries from patients, medical professionals and the public in a busy setting and requiring detailed knowledge of hospital departments.
- Responsible for carrying out the following tasks when necessary including the delivery and collection of goods and equipment, patient transportation, linen and laundry collection, retrieval of medical records, collection of medical gases, blood products and sample collection.
- Acting as a member of the fire response team, Cardiac arrest response team, missing child/adult response team, major incident response team, assist security officer when required
- Moving all waste products: clinical, household, recycling, confidential and other, when working as a waste porter, in accordance with all relevant trust policies
- Open/close clinics and open/close alarms.
- To follow the predetermined planned duty schedule when delivering and collecting equipment and/or handling other service-related tasks.
- Be vigilant for security breaches inside and outside the hospital
- Transport specimens to the Institute when requested and transport specimens arriving by courier out-of-hours to the Accident & Emergency department for storage when they arrive.
