ROLE: General Process / Manual Handling
39 hour week on fortnightly rotation, Monday – Thursday / Tuesday - Friday
23 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
We are looking to recruit a general process / manual handling operator to join our day team at our production facility in Kirkby, Liverpool
You will be required to:
- To process and convert raw materials into products and intermediates in all manufacturing departments in preparation for filling and packing completing assigned tasks, liaising with the technical team without supervisory approval. Achieving business production targets in line with customer requirements and expectations.
- To operate machinery, pack and assemble product, working under moderate supervision with little autonomy. Achieving business production targets in line with customer requirements and expectations. Resolving routine issues with senior staff or supervisory guidance and approval.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety measures required
Key responsibilities:
- Follow methods of manufacture as instructed on works order liaising appropriately with the technical team working within established procedures and guidelines.
- Follow methods of manufacture as instructed on works order (generated by Supervision) with limited discretion to vary from established procedures
- Prepare and provide all raw materials; (including packaging) to manufacturing site to facilitate efficient and effective manufacturing continuity and production setting machine as appropriate, product change, change over, clean down, etc.
- Basic responsibility for stock management, including Support Perpetual Inventory control that includes accurate tracking of materials.
- Contribute to meeting despatch deadlines in conjunction with supervision
- Train and support colleagues adopting a “buddy up” approach ensuring adherence with methods of manufacture.
- Ensure quality compliance, completing routine documentation in accordance with manufacturing requirements.
- Support Perpetual Inventory control that includes accurate tracking of materials.
- Escalating only major issues to supervision
- Comply with all site policies and procedures including HSHE (Health & Safety Hygiene Environment), including intervening on minor packaging materials e.g. Labelling, Sachet film etc including waste management.
- Identifying minor mechanical issues and resolving such issues without supervisory approval.
- Escalate any major mechanical issues to supervision or maintenance
- Accurate recording of production information on internal ERP systems.
- Provide pallet identification labels and accurate recording of production information, mass issue, manufacture time and expense, stock transfers on internal ERP systems.
- Material handling as required e.g. moving pallets, product etc.
Qualifications/Courses/Experience:
- Literacy and numeracy
- Basic IT skills
- Experience in manufacturing is desirable but not essential as full training is provided .Work is clearly defined with tasks described in detail.
- Experience of high volume manufacturing would be beneficial
- Good Manufacturing Practice Training (GMP)
- MHE (all manufacturing handling equipment)
Essential Skills:
- Flexible/Can do approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good command of the English language written & verbal

The role reports to the Manufacturing Operations Supervisor.
