Job description

Kier Highway Solutions is currently seeking reliable and hardworking General Operatives to join our highway maintenance team. The successful candidates will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of construction equipment, as well as assisting with the maintenance and repair of highways and roads.

Location: Wymondham, Norfolk
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: £Competitive


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the drivers with loading and unloading materials, tools, and equipment as needed

  • Assisting with the asphalt or white top repairs and reinstatements

  • Assisting with the safe and efficient operation of excavators and other heavy equipment

  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment and traffic management procedures

  • Willingness to work in shifts and be available to work overtime when required


Who we are looking for:

This role of General Operatives is great for you if you have:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience working in a similar role, such as a construction or labouring role

  • Full driving licence

  • Good knowledge of health and safety regulations

  • Experience operating heavy machinery is a plus

  • Valid and up-to-date CSCS/ CPCS or other relevant certification/licensing


On-the-job training will be provided to ensure the successful candidate is fully competent in the operation of our grab lorry and familiar with our company's policies and procedures.
