General Manager – Fresh Produce
Fresh People are currently recruiting for a General Manager for a Fresh Produce Business based in Mid-Kent , you will responsible for leading through continual growth and the operational teams on site, be responsible for planning and executing the day to day and longer-term operational aspects of the business, with a focus on operational excellence and delivery of exceptional service levels, creating an effective industry leading operation through managing procedures and coaching the teams; this is a hands-on role with ownership of the site that provides coordination for the wider business activities.
The Person
Suitable candidates for this role will have minimum of 5 years proven Senior level General or Operational Director Management; a collaborative leader preferably in Fresh Produce Service Provision, managing people and resources with a firm understanding of financial management and wider management principles with a high level of commercial awareness and ability to build relationships both internally and externally
Key Responsibilities
- Champion and lead a values based culture that represent ISS in line with these values, building trust and confidence in the business. Recruit team members in line with company values, lead, motivate and inspire direct reports to achieve personal development and continual improvement.
- Direct and control the site’s operational functions ensuring the reporting structure is developed so that talented people are recruited/retained and there is a succession plan in place.
- Be the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Champion for the site with the support of the Company’s Health and Safety specialist resource.
- Work collaboratively with cutomers to deliver solutions that benefit the end customer and drive sustainable growth, whilst ensuring the enduring relationship that benefits the profitablity of ISS.
- Support the planning process to ensure that the business can cope with daily, medium and long term capacity and resource demand to ensure that customer service levels are effectively delivered and capacity and resource is optimised.
- Deliver an effective and efficient production and warehousing facility using best practice in process, delivering accurate stocks and information in real time.
- Ensure that there is clear and accurate operational performance reporting in place and that the operational teams understand the performance of all operational areas.
- Ensure that there are corrective action plans in place to drive and deliver the business performance required. Challenge existing practices to minimise risk and maximise delivery and customer service.
- Work with the H&S, Technical, Quality and HR teams to ensure the site is compliant with current and future legislation
- Work in conjunction with the finance team to develop budgets and operational proposals
- Support the executive team to identify gaps between the strategy and the organisational plans. Deliver the company business plan to support the strategy.
- Ensure the facility is well maintained in line with legal and audit standards. Liaisiing with external contractors where necessary.
