My client, part of a privately owned international Group, are an industry renowned manufacturer and supplier of a range of specialist products, serving a UK, European and US client base. Supplying into a range of Industrial and food industries, they are a high volume/processing specialist manufacturer.

With a global footprint of both their manufacturing Sites and customer base, the factory in the North West is currently seeing significant investment from the Group. To lead this Site on its anticipated rapid growth journey, they are looking for both a hands-on and a strategically minded General Manager. You will work closely with and lead the Senior Leadership Team, with responsibility for driving operational performance in accordance with the parameters and targets set out by the Group. You will ensure continuous production of the required quantities at the right time within the established standards of quality at the lowest possible costs, while maintaining equipment, buildings and the working environment in optimal conditions.

They are looking for a ‘people focused’ General Manager who understands the importance of team leadership and motivates others to perform to their potential, whilst ensuring that they live up to the strategic goal of producing sustainable products of the highest quality and at the right time for their customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the strategy for the factory in line with the overall strategy for the Group
  • Work closely to the daily operations and together with your managers ensure an ongoing follow-up on production, resources and projects
  • Continuously identify, lead and drive production optimisations and efficiency improvements
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly KPI reports on production key figures and ongoing activities in general
  • Optimise production and develop processes and procedures while ensuring high quality and timeliness in deliveries
  • Support cooperation with other departments in the company
  • Lead and motivate the management team ensuring engagement
  • Ensure that both employees and processes support and comply with applicable business procedures, safety and hygiene rules

The ideal candidate will-

  • Hold a similar level General Management post with P&L responsibility
  • Have a manufacturing background with extensive experience of working with operational responsibility within a specialist, high volume/ processing environment
  • Have experience of driving lean methodology in a high volume manufacturing environment and of driving a culture of continuous improvement
  • Experience in implementing best practices in operations, quality systems, and health & safety.
  • Have cultivated positive working relationships with employees, peers and superiors.
  • Have excellent communication skills at all levels both internally and with external customers and suppliers
  • Be a tenacious/self-starter, with a will to succeed by doing the right thing for the customers, employees and the Group.
  • Be able to demonstrate strategic thinking
  • Be able to delegate effectively by ensuring the team has a clear understanding of their own roles and responsibilities
  • Be able to mentor, coach and motivate staff to meet company goals and objectives
