Overview:
First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our client to recruit a Operations General Manager to join their team in Bracknell.
The Operations General Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the complete range of service is provided to the client to the required standard as specified in the contract. This must be exercised against the need to deploy efficient and cost-effective use of manpower and equipment within the budget and to continue to develop an appropriate operational and support infrastructure.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily Contract Management
- To lead the MSU division of the company. Act as the figure head for the MSU operation, both internally and externally, ensuring customer needs are met and exceeded.
- Conduct regular site visits to all locations.
- Carry out the routine management of the contract with a team of managers, empowering them by delegating authority and responsibility where necessary.
- Own and manage the P&L for each MSU and the overall MSU function to ensure commercial targets are achieved and exceeded.
- Able to work remotely either from home or at on a client’s site.
- Report directly into the Chief Operating Officer.
Communication
- Keep other non-operational managers involved in the contract up to date on the progress of the contract.
- Own relationship with stakeholders third party and internal to ensure that regular communication is maintained.
- Chair monthly meetings with stakeholders and business partners to provide detailed insight to the performance of the MSU for each location.
Contract Monitoring and Service Delivery
- Responsible for the overall standards of service delivery, regular audits must be completed of the MSU operations scoring the units against agreed criteria.
Staff Deployment
- Ensure the effective deployment of all staff to meet the complete requirements of the contract.
- Develop effective shift rosters for managers and staff.
Business Development
- Support business development by reviewing proposed MSU locations and operations to establish commercial offerings based on operational knowledge and understanding.
- Manage mobilisation of new sites as required to achieve and exceed operational delivery targets.
- Innovation, maintain industry insight to enable innovative thinking and stay ahead of market trends that may present opportunities or challenges to the MSU operation.
Training
- Our own internal policy is to develop our own staff by appropriate training.
- Ensure all staff receive a complete company and contract induction training package.
- Deliver a safety briefing to all new staff and keep the training matrix up to date.
Documentation, Record Keeping and Filing
- Ensure documents are complete, current, and appropriately stored in line with the company’s ISO14001:2015 certification.
Safety Responsibilities
- To be the overall EPOC (Environmental Permitting Operators’ Certificate) holder for sites to ensure compliance to Environment Agency regulations and permits.
- Liaise with the Environment Agency on all aspects of the MSU operation to build relationship and ensure compliance with environmental policies.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum three (3) year experience in a client facing/management role in a large single or multi-site operation.
- Good knowledge of the waste industry is desirable.
- Hold or working towards EPOC accreditation. (Company will provide this accreditation)
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in waste management environment. (Desirable, not essential)
- Senior experience in management of supply chain.
- The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing is very important.
