Walker Precision Engineering are a manufacturing partner to the aerospace and defence sectors operating from sites in Scotland, England and Poland.
To support the ongoing operations and enhance our site safety, we have now established a site facilities team and are looking for an extra pair of hands to help us keep our Glasgow site in great condition. We provide an end-to-end manufacturing process and all teams need support from time to time. From our extensive machine floor (milling and turning) to our wet processing area (plating and painting) and our Assembly/Test facilities to our inhouse Inspection teams so it’s fair to say, no two days will be the same!
This newly created position will work with the Health and Safety manager to keep all this machinery and our site in good condition.
Duties will vary on a day-to-day basis but key tasks are set out below:
- Ensure walkways, stairways, corners, and fire exits are kept clean and clear with no safety hazards
- Keep machine shop floor area and car park clean and rubbish free and renew painted walkways when required
- Ensure Equipment such as our machines and tanks are kept clean and free of dirt, oil, and grease. Monitor machine coolant levels, swarf levels and fill levels of containers, topping these up or removing them as required.
- Operate basic machinery following training such as briquette machine and saw.
- Ensure that all tools are correctly put away immediately after use and that cleaning materials are easily accessible, and safely stored
- Ensure all safety related signage is clearly visible
- Keep yard area organised, tidy and maintained.
- General labouring as required, e.g., safely lift and move materials and equipment.
