Job description
Harehope is a forward-thinking farming estate with 600 hectares of arable farmland, as well as permanent pasture, woodland, and heather moorland. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic general farm worker to work in various aspects of our arable and livestock farming enterprises.
The successful applicant will either be offered accommodation at one of our farms, or be local enough to travel to/from the farm daily. The role will vary throughout the year. In spring you will work closely with the cattle manager during calving, assisting in feeding, bedding, tagging and general day-to-day tasks. You may also assist with transport of ewes and lambs during lambing. In summer you will fit into the harvesting team, operating machinery leading grain, bales, light cultivations, rolling etc. Autumn and winter will consist of various activities, such as feeding/bedding livestock, fencing activities, machinery and equipment repairs/servicing and the opportunity for a good amount of time off.
The successful applicant will be a relatively experienced operator with at least a few harvests under their belt, they will be conscious of the health and safety aspects in farming and be willing to undergo additional training. Telehandler and forklift certificates are beneficial, but training/courses can be offered. PA1, PA2, PA4 are also beneficial, but not a requirement.
If you are enthusiastic about farming, looking for a full-time role in Northumberland and willing to work hard and learn on the job, we would like to hear from you. There is a lot of potential for career development and growth here at Harehope.
