Job description
This job will cover all aspects of our mixed farm. The farm covers 5500 acres with 1500 acres arable and intensive grazing. 4000 acres of permanent pasture are rented fromthe MOD on salisbury plain for grazing cattle.
Currently the farm has 1600 cattle including 550 dairy cows and 160 suckler cows. All calves are reared on the farm and either go through our beef unit that uses barley and straw from the arable unit. All heifers are kept for replacements in the dairy and the suckler herd.
In the main this position will be mainly livestock orientated but will require some work to be done on the arable side during harvest, cultivation and silage.
Some previous experience or learning of agriculture is desired but not essential. No accommodation is provided with the position.
