Role Summary
As an Advance Manufacturing Apprentice (AMA) you will be based within our Supply Chain, of over 600 people. Throughout your 45-month apprenticeship, you will study a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship Engineering Technician Technical Support – Electrical.
During your first 2-years, you will be split your time between academic study with Gloucestershire College and on-site placement. You will be allocated to a specific business area (known as a cell) for the duration of your placement, and will rotate around all the teams within this production area.
In addition to technical development, we are also committed to supporting your broader personal development. Throughout your time on the course, you will be given the opportunity to participate in projects and training outside of your apprenticeships with the aim of enhancing both your interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
You will be supported by your line manager, plus placement managers, mentors, and the wider apprentice network, to ensure you are meeting the requirements of your course and getting the most out of your apprenticeship.
Overview of the scheme
Year 1 & 2
In year 1 you will start your study with Gloucestershire College, focusing on your Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (foundation Competence) and Level 3 Diploma in advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge).
You will also start your onsite placement, putting your college skills into practice. You'll begin to work on foundational tasks, establishing working relationships and meeting your team and develop these to become more autonomous and take on greater responsibilities.
Year 3
You will be on site full-time from Year 3, and will work towards a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Technical Support Technician (Development Competence) with supporting portfolio, which you will create with the support of the business and college.
You will also be a more integrated member of the team and will be expected to take on further responsibilities within your department, and across the apprenticeship programme. You will begin to think about your future career with GE and the area you hope to obtain a permanent role in at the end of your apprenticeship.
Candidate profile
In addition to demonstrating that you have achieved, or are predicted, 4 GCSE’s (or equivalent), including
Maths and English at grades C/4 or above, the successful candidate will also be:
