The Rates Trading desk is part of the Financial Markets business within Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets (LBCM). We provide LBCM clients' access to a range of Rates products as part of being a Gilt Edged Market Maker (GEMM) covering a variety of assets from government bonds to interest rate derivatives ranging from vanilla products to highly bespoke structured products.

We work collaboratively with sales to provide financial risk management solutions to our clients to support the growth of the business. Our focus is to continue to build out our product offering and client franchise through enhancing our technical architecture and developing stronger relationships with existing and new clients.
About the role:
The Rates Trading Team are looking for a trader to join the Conventional Gilt and medium term GBP swap team reporting into Brett Hipkiss. The role will require 3-6 years market making experience, excellent analytical and programming skills and a desire to assist the desk on both Gilt and GBP derivatives trading.
The financial landscape is constantly evolving, and we're continuing to adapt as the Rates markets becomes more digitised. Our traders need to be proficient in systems used across the Rates desk and Excel/VPA and able to upskill in new systems.
Having an in depth understanding of Financial Markets and a strong knowledge of Rates markets and products is vital. You must also be able to demonstrate detailed knowledge of the regulatory and conduct agenda and role model the right behaviours to achieve client outcomes and our objectives.
Skills and experience required:
It's an exciting time to join the desk as we enter a new Group strategy and growth period. The ideal candidate would have the desire to expand our GBP Flow franchise and to deliver our strategy and extensive relevant trading experience.   • A strong numerical background with a good understanding of market and credit risk management
  • The ability to engage with senior partners to achieve common goals and deliver on the desk strategic goals
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external clients
  • A track record of delivering at high standards under time pressure whilst demonstrating good judgement and decision making skills
  • Demonstrate dedication, intensity and passion for the LBCM fixed income business and its longer term development

This role is considered Certified under the Senior Manager and Certification Regime as either requiring mandatory qualifications or being deemed as a role capable of providing ‘significant harm’ to customers. Due to this, successful candidates will be subject to enhanced levels of vetting, and required to complete a fitness and propriety attestation on commencement in role. Colleagues performing this role will be required to be complete a fitness and propriety attestation on an annual basis and will also be subject to additional routine criminal and credit checks
