The Games Editor role is the most senior position on this Project and you will be responsible for driving traffic both from your own content and from internal writers and external freelancers. You will report directly to the Head of Digital and work with him closely in helping to develop the long-term strategy and direction.
You will be responsible for managing existing game hubs and gaming news content on the Project, and be responsible for setting the editorial standard for the writing team to ensure that engagement, rankings and traffic are both maximised.
The Games Editor must also champion their content outside of the Project, using social channels and LinkedIn.
You will also act as a brand ambassador for the project, building relationships with clients, PR and external journalists. This is an essential part of the job as we look to position the Project at the top of the tier of publications for early access and product.
You will also be responsible for enforcing SEO best practices across the entire output of content for the Project.
Responsibilities
- Working with the Head of Digital to maximise opportunities across the site
- Planning and management evergreen hubs of guide content
- Develop a robust gaming news strategy and build out a team of news writers.
- Writing evergreen content and best-in-class guides and how-to articles
- Managing maintenance of all existing copy to ensure that rankings are held/improved and traffic maximised.
- Improving SEO practises across the board and helping with keyword research for writers planning hubs
- Optimising internal/hub content before it’s published
- Proofreading copy
- Build content plans to hit traffic targets
- Staying on top of all developments in the gaming industry
- Building relationships with key industry contacts and representing us at industry events
- Building out engagement with the wider gaming community across relevant platforms
- Identifying areas of opportunity for growth and planning and sourcing freelancers where needed
- Helping staff and junior writers improve their own work where possible
Managing the internal team and developing their writing ability and knowledge of the industry

Salary: £20,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
