Our creative teams are currently working on several exciting titles: Gemini is our new project being developed with Square Enix; Bifrost, Victoria and Dagger are projects we're growing in the self-publishing model. People Can Fly is seeking a talented and experienced Level Designer to join our team of developers working on a AAA Unreal Engine VR game. As a VR Level Designer, you will play a critical role in crafting the gameplay world layout and moment to moment experience of the project. You will collaborate closely with the design, programming, and art teams to ensure a seamless integration of gameplay mechanics, systems, and assets across a range of VR platforms. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating immersive and engaging VR experiences that captivate our players.
- To plan, design, iterate and implement levels including creating level layouts, scripting, enemy encounters and ingredients integration.
- To ensure that the player experience is consistent with the Game’s vision, and is fun & memorable.
- Full map creation process, from paper design through whitebox phase, scripting, iteration, debugging, optimization to delivery
- Communicate visually design intentions and function of a space
- Block and iterate intensively on levels according to feedback, playtest and debug loops
- Collaborate with the visual & meshing department to ensure that the levels are of the highest visual quality, while maintaining gameplay and fun
- Takes part in work of dedicated established Strike Teams
- Participates in prototyping to bring the creative vision on screen
- Collaborates in process and guidelines improvement
- Participates in the tools and the final result debugging at all stages of the production
- Sharing methodology and best practices with peers
- Occasionally onboard new hires
- 3+ years of experience in the video game industry in Level Design roles
- Experience with pre-production, production, and closing of previous game productions
- A shipped AA - AAA title that used Unreal Engine
- Experience in working with Unreal Engine, including blueprint scripting and asset integration
- Understanding intricacies of game performance on various low and high end platforms
- Experience with VR
- Familiarity with VR interaction models, locomotion techniques, and comfort optimization
- Experience with the shooter genre
- Experience in game design – both practice and theory (paper design and implementation)
- Experience with visual scripting systems or other experience with programming and scripting languages
- Experience working with a variety of established game toolsets
- Strong analytical and formal thinking, able to break problems down in their key variables and identify the relations between them
- Strong problem solving and trouble-shooting skills
- Ability to process, understand and implement feedback
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Open-minded team player attitude
- Strong work ethic and self-motivated
- Familiarity with VR interaction models, locomotion techniques, and comfort optimization
- Experience optimizing games for performance and maintaining high frame rates
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
- A passion for VR gaming and a strong desire to create immersive experiences that push the boundaries of technology
