Flatirons Solutions is looking for a talented and dedicated Technical Illustrator to support Technical Publications projects for our Aerospace customers. The Technical Illustrator will produce illustrations for use in Aerospace Technical manuals.

The Technical Illustrator will research information from the relevant engine model files by interrogating customer specific model data to produce accurate technical content. A working knowledge of PTC IsoDraw, AutoTrol Tech Illustrator, and Viz Mock-up will be beneficial, and candidates with an interest in Aerospace, or Aerospace Engineering are preferred.

As a Technical Illustrator, you will….

• Research information according to the relevant specifications by interrogating specific systems and data.
• Work closely with the offshore Technical Illustrators to provide accurate illustration files.
• Ensure deliverables are met for the Technical Authors.
• Understand the escalation, issues, and risks processes according to the established paths.
• Proactively communicate with the Illustration teams both on and offshore.
• Prepare and manage the quality of work within timescale and quality parameters, to ensure that it meets with customer requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Understand and adhere to all requirements of the Quality Management System, Business Management System, and Information Security Management System.

We are looking for an individual with the following competencies:

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Technical Illustration experience, preferably in a Service Provision, Technical Documentation environment or within the Engineering and Aerospace industry.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings and models.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, process descriptions, procedure manuals and related technical documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule format.
• Experience with workflow process tools preferably in a highly fluid production-oriented environment.
• Familiarity with aircraft/aerospace, semiconductor, and/or hi-tech industries is a plus.
• A working knowledge of PTC IsoDraw, AutoTrol Tech Illustrator, and Viz Mock-up is desirable.

Miscellaneous Necessities of the Position:

• Due to export control requirements this position requires UK citizenship, and satisfactory BPSS clearance requirements.
